It looks like it has held up pretty well given the time gone by. You must remember that the paint and materials used back then were not anything like we have available today. That is undoubtably lacquer paint that has not bonded well to the old fiberglass. Show car paint jobs back in that era were only good for a couple of years. All in all it looks very complete and unmolested unlike many that have resurfaced over the last few years. Should be a fairly easy restoration compared to most.

Well this is outstanding I'm certainly looking forward to seeing this in person next week for sure.
Having read so much about the car here on the HAMB so much mystery and now its out for all to see.

That was great to hear today.. That it will see the light of day and be restored .. looks forward to seeing as pulled from storage and after the restoration

 

I understand about the materials used back then. I can forgive that damage. What I don’t understand is all the neglect. How could someone just neglect a car like that. Probably spent good money buying the damned thing from the beginning. I just don’t know?

I’ve always wondered what they were smoking when they built it!
Always have had mixed feelings about the design, for sure it was out of the box back then and it still is. More a show car than a driver, it can’t be very comfortable. Still good to see a piece of history emerge again. Most show cars led a short life, after being revamped a few times they were gutted and thrown away, probably a good thing for some of them.

I hope the whole story comes out… it blows my mind that this thing has been hidden away since before I was born. Stoked it’s been brought out of hiding. Would love to see it in Detroit!!

I get that, and you are entirely correct.
I guess what I was saying is that I don't understand how it could be stored and left sit for 50-odd years.

 

May be pretty shabby after sitting all these years; but at least there are no Jim Skonzakes' style updates.

 

I'm glad it got hidden and forgotten, like most cars of that Era if it had stayed out in public life most likely by now it would have either been cut up and parted out or modified so extensively that it would have been unrecognizable by now. This way it's been nothing but locked away and left to sit without different owners and hands changing every piece of it

Notice that there is tape under the exhaust manifolds and caps on the stacks so apparently the owner had figured to keep it stored for sometime.

The car has served it's purpose. It had people talking about it then, and now, how many years later...?

Its in pretty amazing shape. Way better than I would've expected. Pretty iconic showcar that has had so many rumors and guesses about its fate, I'm stoked to see it.

Seriously how exciting is this shit?!
