What are the differences between p***enger and pickup frames in 1934 Fords? I met a guy who has a truck with a cracked frame which sidelined the truck shortly after he bought it ten years ago. I would like to point him in the right direction on fixing it. Are boxing plates and X-member kits the same for trucks and p***enger frames?
As far as I have ever heard, the only differences are the metal gauge and the fender bolt holes. I think regular p***enger cars are 11 gauge, and pickups (and convertibles?) are 10 gauge. The fender and running bolt holes on a pickup would not line up with the p***enger fenders, and verse visa. The overall basic size and shape of the frames is the same. All hot rod boxing plates, crossmembers, and suspension should be the same.
34' truck frames are the same as 32' car frames!!.........lots of them around.(repro that is)..The 34' car frame is VERY different.
You are sooo wrong. If you aren't sure of what you're talking about, don't be preaching on the internet.
I have a '33 pickup, they use the same ch***is as the car. '33 & '34 car and pickup are identical. Commercial truck is different. Boxing plates and new crossmembers should get that thing back to usable. BigKen
Thanks, guys. I know the layout of the frames are very similar and NOT like the '32 frames. A lot of misinformation about 32 and 33-34 truck stuff being the same because the cabs all look like '32s. The guy who owns the truck said that it had a doubler inside the frame rails unlike the p*** frame. I think he may have been looking at the ends of the X-member where they extend into the rear portion of the frame rails.
I know this is an old post BUT, I am doing a 34 panel is the frame the same as a 34 pickup if anyone knows? I figured it was and with the blueprints of the Car and Pickup it's mainly just a few holes in different places. Is there something that I don't know about? I didn't want to pull the body and let it sit for the time it would take to complete a ch***is, since all the wood would warp. Before I start on the ch***is would like to know it, I picked up a decent p***enger car frame just needing a little front frame horn work, like most do and need to weld in the capture nuts before I box it. Any insight would be greatly appriciated Rich
Should be the same as a car/pickup frame. Body mounting will be slightly different on the back end due to the uniqueness of the panel. Doors forward are the exact same as a pickup
Ford made a few different size (length) panel deliveries. If you are talking about the common size with the same wheelbase as p***enger, then yes the frame is basically the same.
Thank you Both. what I can tell is different is there are vertical carriage bolts that hold a trimmed 2x4 across the rear of the Gas Tank. Just a note too the tank is the same as a 33-34 Victoria which is even weirder
