I am going to paint my comet in the spring. I need a little help on choosing the color. Any suggestions, i like primer, but Everybody is using it these days. I am definately going to have flames front to back on it. What do you guys think i should do with it?? Thanks Nate
IMO, flames wouldn't quite work on that car. How about something a bit more suited to the era? Something like 2-tone scallops and flaked roof?
First get rid of your front door handles, your not foolin anyone into thinkin it's only a two door.Look into some new car colors, Plymouth has a cool gold they put on the pt's, flake the roof, and do purple flames. I think Kia has a wicked looking lime-ish green, but whatever color you choose i think you shuold think about throwing some flakes in the roof. But it is your car so the final decision is really up to you.
i wasnt trying to fool anybody with my handles, i dont have the money yet to get solinoids for it. I ve also been thinking about a flaked roof.
K- I liked your Comet best when it was white. If you're really jonesin' for fancy paint, maybe do it in a pearl or metalflake white? I see it with a red interior, but that's just me. I vote no for graphics of any kind on that car. It's already too busy with the extra set of doors. Mild mild mild. Ed
briggs, i painted brown maybe a month ago, i use it as my daily driver right now, i posted pics, must have missed them! Ill have to think of not using flames or not. thanks for the feedback! Nate
big a. not sure how well that would go with the red and white interior. What about white body with red flake top, can you photoshop that for me?? Thanks Nate
Nate, If you want to keep this on the cheap, Duplicolor sells a white paint that's around $30/gallon. There is no cheaper way to paint a car than Duplicolor white. Maybe do that and save your money for some 'flake on the roof. Ed
Nate,I had a 62 comet.I was going to paint it Metalflake white w/ pearl blue ghost flames.Once I got the flake white done,I liked it so much,I never flamed it.It stayed all white w/rainbow flake mixed for the roof. Charlie
Yeah, I suck....but here's a takeoff on A's idea. Slightly lower, bellflower tips and a cheesy attempt at scallops.
i think i am going to go with the white body with red flake roof. I think im going to save my money and do a real nice paint job on this and do the body work staright. Im tired of having a wavy car and primer! LOL. thanks Nate
ed, i also like the bellflower tips. I think ill get some in the spring and put them on!! Speedy, i think ill keep the fins, i really like them!! Thanks for the feedback!! Nate
[ QUOTE ] i was kinda thinkin you should shave those rear fins but that just me im not into fins [/ QUOTE ] Nate, leave the fins. They keep the car from looking like Dodge Dart grocery-getter. If your interior is red and white, and you don't plan on changing it, you are limited in your color choices. Stay with a palette that matches. While some of the color mentioned would be cool (I want to use that KIA lime green on something in the future), they would look awkward with red/white.
nailhead's photochop is awesome. good job on that. nate, you should do your comet like his rendition. it would be a real kickass car. but that's just my opinion, i could be wrong.
