Lestoil. It's getting hard to find but it is killer for tires or any rubber part.

This is absolutely true. However I still use it on the wide whitewalls of my HD deluxe a couple times a year. The thing about that, is the tires on motorcycles don't last all that long, so by the time the sidewalls are showing visible cracks, the tread is done....***uming one actually rides their bike.
On a car.....hard to say. Tires seem to be done well before the tread is gone these days. The common theme is about five years.
I can't disagree with that since I had a set of six year old tires delaminate as we approached Rapid City, SD last year on our cross country road trip return leg. They had 15,000 miles on 'em.
So, the question is, how long are you gonna have those tires?

When I ordered my DB Auburn WW's, there was a red tag on each tire warning not to use bleach products on the tires.

Been using Simply Green and green Scotch-Brite for 22 years on my set of DB whitewalls and they still looked like new. As mentioned its better to keep them clean or they can become stained.

ps: I just replaced them this fall due to the age so don't panic. They looked like new in and out. I'm actually more concerned now as I question if todays tires are as good as they used to be.

Does anybody use (recommend?) a dressing to use on tyres after the whitewalls have been scrubbed clean? ie to keep the white looking white and the black section of the tyre looking deep black.

SOS pad....works fantastic. They're made with biodegradable soaps and detergents for the rubber. Been using them for white walls/letters since I was a kid.

Is that to whiten the whitewalls or is it to 'dress' the tyres as per my earlier post?

Bleech-White DOES NOT work like it used to. In fact it's a joke. I bought a gallon of cleaner from bLowes (something 88?) for like 7 bucks. The down side is ya gotta wait a bit and re-apply before you get to it. Old stock Bleech White is liquid gold now. It used to be the standard and left a literal shine on ww tires. This new **** they use the name on is a placebo. If the product you're using isn't pulling a nasty baby **** color out of the tire it isn't working, the end. Black or white, it better be turning brown when wet or it's gonna dry brown when you're done. 7.50-17 wide whites are no day at the beach to clean especially when there's 6 of them *****es, so yeah the "new" Bleech-White sux.

Rub-O-Matic.jpeg This is when all other stuff fails.
The only stuff I've found to remove the brown leaching into Whitewalls.

Use with a 3M Scotch Bright pad. You don't have to rub hard.
The Rub-O-Matic solution will remove / clean the whitewall with little effort.

Strong stuff, not $ cheap but good ****.

You can use a follow up with Purple Power to maintain whiteness and keep some moister in the Whitewalls.

Same here. Purple power doesn't strip and make the WW brittle and dry.

I use simple green. Spray it on a small section scower with a soft nylon sponge ,then wipe off the area with a paper towel.
The main goal is to not damage the glossy finish on white wall. NEVER use bleach or SOS pads.

It is a degreaser. I've used it for a while now and no issues. No scrubbing needed. Spay in on and rub it off. Leaves the white walls clean and bright.

The challenging part is if the vulcanized rubber is leaching from the inside out that stains the white wall.

That’s when heavy duty stuff has to be used and sometimes not able to completely get rid of inside out leaching.......
    That's when it ****s.

New whitewalls have gotten very expensive.

I'll second that. As a kid Dad would make us boys scrub the whitewalls with an SOS pad before every trip. Works like a charm (especially if you can get your boys to do the dirty work)...LOL
I still use the SOS on the wide whites on my Harley

This stuff works great. Use a soft brush, then rinse well.

  22. I have used Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner and Tire Clearcoat using their brush and sponge applicator on my Dback whitewalls. I'm very pleased, white as snow, black wall not to shiny 20240301_121654.jpg 20240301_121654.jpg 20240301_121625.jpg

If Bleach White alone doesn’t get it go over with Comet scrub again and rinse.

Gray scotch brite and dawn dish spray. Worked awesome on the white walls on my buddy's bike.

Hope I'm not too off topic, but I just received some brand new DB's. They have the blue coating. They came with a paper that says to wash off with only water. My question is, should they be cleaned before mounting? Or after?
Just overthinking if some of the blue will get stuck on the rim contact point and seep out?

I always wash just enough of the blue film off so its not in the way of mounting.
