Folks Of Interest SCAMMER

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by redoxide, Jan 20, 2024.

  1. I am still mystified when I ask a seller or I send a buyer my phone number, that's it. no more communication. I don't know if people have forgotten how to use a phone anymore, or maybe they are big fat scaredy cats and don't want to talk to people. When they do call (and usually buy the item), they are old fossils like me, never under 45 years old. A scammer will make every excuse to not give his number, and I won't offer mine, of course.

  2. I was alerted tonight that this "Ray Smith" on Facebook is trying to sell my valve covers !

He has also created his own fictitious group to sell things that don't belong to him, steals photos then posts items for sale using the photos.

That’s pretty bold to create a fake group. Never heard of that before.

  9. Why do they always say they are from Beaumont? Is there a Institute for Scammers and Poor English Skills close-by?
And after all this time, they still don't know the difference between the words "Sale" and "Sell"!

They just might be smarter than you think..........

"Why do scam emails have so many typos?
The reason why phishing emails have so many typos is simple—they're intentional and are included by design. The scammer's goal is to send phishing emails to a very gullible, innocent victim. If they have typos, they're essentially weeding out recipients too smart to fall for the scam."

My wife's IG account was recently hacked. This POS messaged me on IG asking for my phone # to send me offers. I called it out and asked how my own wife doesn't have my # any more...when she's sitting on the couch next to me. The acct got shut down shortly after. At least it wasn't her business acct.

Just to clarify, I said the above as a way to root out what's happening. They say no cash (yeah right) or pay 1st or just go silent.

  22. I see a lot of people falling victim to
" I need a deposit to hold it till you get here, lots of people messaging me wanting to buy"
Of course once deposit is received all contact is ended.

  23. There's no use checking names, addresses, etc, as they are all fake or stolen. Scammers are pretty dumb, but not dumb enough to put any real information in their ads. Don't forget that there is no truth to anything they say. Best thing is to waste their time (they have plenty of that!), so if the ad stinks (and they ARE easy to spot), respond to them and just keep asking to pick it up and pay cash, sending vague questions about photos, sizes, payment methods, any bullshit you can think of. Send them a picture of a donkey and ask them if they have a bearing for it's arse. Anything is fair game with these turds. I have had a few which had said that it was too much work dealing with me, cursed me, and they gave up!
With all these clever computer dudes around, you think that by now someone would have developed a program which answered scam ads with 10,000 replies, all from different names & addresses, full of stupid questions, and give these dumbasses a hard time!

I used to do that with the car warranty callers. I’d keep them on the phone as long as I could, make them repeat all of it several times and then tell them I’m not interested.

"Are you here? I'm driving a burgundy SUV, what are u driving? Call me..."
Even better, set up a conference call with a pal and tell them be quiet. Once he describes himself: "OK, blue pickup (or whatever he says he's driving). Then have your pal say "ok sir we got him, CLOSE IN! CLOSE IN!" Sadly you won't see him, but might hear him shit his pants.:p:D:D:D
