This hood was from Ken Fuhrmans 1929 roadster. It was first shown at the oakland show in 1949 and was pinstriped by Tommy "The Greek" Hrones. This hood panel is from Herb Martinez pinstripe art collection. I thought it was cool and wanted to share the picture.
I always thought that his particular style of striping was the most pleasing to the eye. One of the best for sure.
where the greek was most masterful was in his understanding that the whole point of pinstriping is to accentuate a vehicle's lines or to add a little pop in an otherwise blank surface. he wasnt trying to fill an entire hood or trunk or add little spider webs to every corner. he brought out the beauty of the car instead of turing it into a rolling canvas.
Herb Martinez striped my 34 Greek style to keep it East Bay Area.Herb grew up in Oakland Idolizing Tommy.
I hate Tommy the Greek striping because I've always had difficulty mastering the master. Just kidding. I really do worship his simplicity. I've done some of his style and man can it screww wit yo eyeballs.
