  1. For those of you who weren't born with the knowledge and ability to bend fuel line I leave you with this tongue-in-cheek attempt so you know you aren't alone.:p:rolleyes:

Yup…a lot of “proto types” got tossed under the bench on this. You local hydraulic shop can be your best friend 67590577332__13E1477D-1EA9-4DEA-8692-E027E247EEAE.jpeg IMG_4878.jpeg

Making up a set of these helps a bunch. Lay one along side of the tube you are bending and use the black line to mark where to place the tube at 0 in the bender.

When I am doing tubing lines, I do the first version in steel and then transfer to stainless steel lines. i mark the steel lines at 1" intervals over the full length of the line, make the bends (CORRECTLY), then transfer the bends to the stainless lines (also marked at 1" intervals). I make the mistakes on the cheap steel lines and make the stainless lines to duplicate the corrected steel lines. It tells me where to make the bends and in which direction. BTW, the permanent marker comes off with rubbing alcohol. 2020_08_29-FuelRtnLineFinal-IMG_2636.jpg 2020_08_29-FuelRtnLineFinal-IMG_2645.jpg 2020_08_29-FuelRtnLineModel-IMG_2639.jpg 2020_09_01-FuelLineClamps-IMG_2654.jpg

I’m not a fan of the color, reminds me of plumbing work

That is what happens when you go to put copper house plumbing on a dual carb setup and they reject it not wanting to wear house or building stuff.

I use cheap aluminum fuel line to make a prototype. Re-bendable. I also use it for rollcage tubing prototyping.

Worst feeling in the world.... having successfully performed a number of difficult bends on a long, stainless tube, you get the final bend 180 out! I usually rescue the piece by finding an excuse for inserting a component somewhere in the line to salvage as much as possible, or insert a joint. I'm cheap, but I like stainless, and can't afford multiple remakes!

    Looks great.

What kind of bender did you use, or are you saying the hydraulic shop bent it? Is each end flared or are those compression fittings?

What kind of tools does everyone use? I.E. what bender and flare tool do you find works well? Do you use a tubing straightener or?

My experience with the nicopp lines are that it is easy to bend , but after a while starts turning green and discolouring . I've got a customer whose truck I did a complete job on that lives a mile from the beach. And it's all turning green and looks terrible. I wouldn't use it again.
