I am looking to get some recommendations for reputable companies that do repop sheet metal for 1958 ford cars. I am working on a Custom 300 4 door that needs some metal. My issue is i am not finding much other than EMS and they don't ship to Canada. Any suggestions?
Have your parts shipped to one of the businesses on the American side of the border that collects shipments for customers in Canada and drive there to pick them up.
Google parcel services "Pembina ND" if you want to go that route there are a few listed. examples: https://www.borderparcelservice.com/rates.html https://mikesparcelpickup.com/#instructions http://www.cornerbarparcelpickup.com/index.cfm https://pembinaparcel.com/Terms.aspx etc.. Check a****st your friends as they may have a subscription to one of these services. I used a friend's subscription to receive a shipment for me. You need your have your p***port current, show your paperwork at customs for GST and sales tax then you are on your way home. Check the Canadian & USA Border Services to see what is involved in going back and forth. It was a process both ways when covid was at its peak. Best advice is don't order parts piece meal. Order as much as you can afford at at time so you aren't bled to death with shipping charges. Often big orders are free within the 48 states or at a significantly reduced rate. Dennis Carpenter had a sale years ago with $99 shipping on oversized shipping so I got all the floor panels on one order. Saved with a sale and on shipping to my US parcel service. They were all on an a pallet that the service set on my truck. Hope this helps some. GP
One further thought on this is to talk to the good folks at Border Boxes if you don't want to travel. Border Boxes take in parcels and shipments of all sizes. They also are a shipper for packages through different companies and methods. Maybe they could receive the panels and determine a cost to forward them to you. It could be done over the phone with a credit card. They are the company that I used for my floor panels and they were excellent to work with. Winnipeg to Emerson and back is at least 3 hours driving which has a cost too. https://www.borderboxes.com/
My guess is that EMS is the only company in the world that makes new sheetmetal for the '58 Ford car. So as others are suggesting, you need to figure out what you need and find a way to get it across the border from them. I wonder if EMS has any third party dealers that they supply, who might ship to Canada? I'm not sure if EMS only sells direct or if they have dealers as well. But the rep from EMS is on this board @ems customer service maybe he could give a bit of insight as to the best route to take.
Thanks for the suggestions. EMS seems to be the a company that is prevelent for the metal. Do you have any other recomendations. I have looked around and there seeme to be quite a few but they all look like the pictures from EMS.
to get your EMS PARTS into Canada, call HORTON'S HOT ROD PARTS in Toronto. we got tired of border ******** from the USA border dummies and the Canada customs tries to be more stupid the then the usa side multiplied by the dumb at fed ex and more stupid at ups.
