So I have had these hub caps and trim rings hanging in the shop for many years. Well I never knew what they were off of or what they fit. So are they stock stuff or accessories . I’m thinking the aluminum spun wide five caps are aftermarket but who made them. The chrome trim rings or covers seem to over lay the wheel. I have both the 15 and 16 inch but the ford hubcap don’t fit into the 15 but does in the 16 inch. So my question is what do I have.? Thank you
I believe those may be stock in 1950 Mercury. Rings, and then the center cap from the Mercury holds it on.
I have a soft spot for these trim rings, and collect sets,The hubcaps are beautiful and remind me of 38 zephyr caps,I have no idea of manufacturer, but my favourite factory hubcap. The aftermarket trim rings are commonly stamped around outer inner side calneva or lyons are sometimes still found nos brands, and were made for everything. These could be factory Lincoln, I have a set for my 41 Lincoln which is unique as they have a 16" inch rim but its deep like 5.5 inches. The 16" ones you have look like those, very deep,They will not fit a ford 16 or f100 rim, almost impossible to tell without sitting on a rim.But i believe that 41 lincoln cap is stock too that trim ring. The only other deep ones in 16" ive found seem to fit mercury 39 wide five rims and sometimes crossover to the lincoln rim offset. Johnny
Johnny, thank you for the info and the rings aren’t deep at all and fit on a ford rim but can’t get the cap on and is almost the same size
My apologies, I shoulda looked at mine first, they do not have the inner lip, but are just held on bye hubcap, so I guess that rules out 41 Lincoln if they fit a shollow ford rim.
I have some nos sets and people sometimes don’t realise the very inner lip should usually be pressed in with hubcap. That’s about best I can do ,Goodluck man
Johnny, thanks for checking your caps and the help. I didn’t find a name as my other lyons caps do. I’m digging the old white walled covers from lyons as I had a nos set in the box years ago.
