I have this 4” dropped tube axle and have never seen another one like it. It has set screws for the king pins rather than the traditional tapered wedge bolts. It was removed from a 1934 Ford pickup that was drag raced in the 60’s and early 70’s. Can anyone here identify who the manufacturer was? Thanks
if its been in there a long time, which it looks to have been, it could be an MAS axle. those were pretty common in the 70's and 80's
I have an old MAS tube axle that looks almost identical to your's, but has better welds. My guess is you have an MAS axle.
I think these guys are right. I had a tube axle from M.A.S. (Minnesota Auto Specialties) under the front end of my first '27 T roadster. It was set up for Econoline spindles but also used allen head lock screws to hold kingpins in place.
I have a dropped tube axle I bought at the Sr Peter, MN swap meet years ago the also has the allen-headed lock screws. Given the location, I always assumed it was an MAS.
Did MAS make tube axles with perch pin bosses welded in? Don't remember seeing them in any of their stores.
