Happy Friday ( FAS ) to everybody.
Seeing how it was Valentine's day this week, first of all, in the realm of heart shaped automotive grille shell's, this one is hard to beat,

    Hello,

A little kid wandering around this large trailer park in the eastside of Long Beach called for a cool posed photo Yes, when that light grey 1941 Buick Fastback Sedan was open, it was a great place for a nice fort, playroom or place to get away from my older brother, who was usually on a “tear” in the neighborhood. So, when our dad saw me near his car, he set up his camera and took a “Nice Kid” photo to show our mom. Yowee!

Over the years of being involved in hot rods and family, I saw that our dad did like our cool cars, street cruising hot rods, drag racing car builds, etc. he even liked and approved us going surfing far away as teenagers, because both brothers were now able to do something together, again.

He always thought as hot rod builders and drag race teens, we did a great job on our builds and racing. He was all for it, whereas, our mom was always telling us how dangerous hot rods and drag racing is/was. It was funny, she had never seen a drag race, but knew it was dangerous. She could hear it weekly, but never saw a race.

So, for our dad, I turned his stately 41 Grey/Silver Buick Fastback into a custom car for his daily drives into Los Angeles. Chopped, lowered and on a slight rake, suicide doors to allow him to access the seats easily… he had a bad back since we knew of it as little kids. The chopped version would be a hard sell, but if he had seen the drawing back then, he would have approved of the custom features.

We liked all shades of blue and this one made the features stand out. But, for our Dad’s favorite color of blue, it was a little darker heading for the purple/black range. Hard to duplicate.

Note: When we had a black 1958 Impala that was the shiniest car in the whole neighborhood, he was tempted to get another Buick in his realm of a 4 year ownership of a new car. So, he was heading into the very dark colors and in the second round of new car ownership in 1963, he bought a dark green Buick Riviera.

But, a lowered Black 1941 Buick Fastback could have been the next ride for him…
upload_2024-2-16_7-56-46.png The front opening doors would have made his day getting in and out of his Buick Fastback Sedan. His tired old back from sports, was not in the best shape sitting in those almost 90 degree stock seats. But, at least, he could have an easier entrance and exit with those doors. YRMV

I recall hand washing that body, when new, for a customer.
