    I have Googled the **** out of it and HAMB searched, but no dice. I'm looking for a pic of where the handle part attaches to either the dash or the firewall.

    There is some kind of bracket action underneath that teh whole ****eree bolts to, but I have no idea what it looks like.

    Thanks, -Abone.

    no, that's about right...rusty, fused solid, and begging for You to attempt to try to dislodge it. Typically, however, it is surrounded by dozens, if not hundreds of flesh romoval devices pointing at it, so no matter what angle You attack it from, presto! You bleed, it stays stuck.

    looks about right.

    See the rounded "flat" piece a little to the right of center?

    A 3/8" rod goes in there and is held on by a nut top and bottom.

    Easy to make by threading a 3/8" rod or long bolt with the head cut off and threaded for your knob.

    This shows where it is in relation to the center of the dash.

    Do make a point to get it operative . . . makes a helluva difference in summer....

    that looks significantly less painful. burns don't hurt nearly as bad.

    Coulda swore I saw 32 in the ***le.

    32 Brookville re-pro shown.

    Thought I had a 32 question that I knew something about.:eek:

    Actually what goes in there is a beautiful chrome-plated diecast original or reproduction Ford cowl vent handle with one nut to retain it. 32 and 32-34 Pickups use a long one and the 33-34 P***enger uses a shorter version.

    I'll see if I can get the camera out and take some pictures for you. I'm on break at work at the moment, and every picture in this thread doesnt meet requirement for the "filter" so everything is x-blank but if I there isnt a picture here by the time I get the camera out, I can "Hep-Ya" as sargent Rizzo from M*A*S*H* would say. Dont let me forget though.

    Abone, there is an "L" type bracket riveted to the fire wall that the cowl vent pivot parts bolt to with two bolts, it does not connect to the dash. The 39 vent hardware is different from the 40 stuff.

  12. I saw those after I'd done the bolt and knob trick.

    Had a a long stainless bolt and a leftover drillpress knob I made.

    If I can find a vent for the 31 roadster I'll be looking for one of the Ford handles.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Skidmarks, what year vent do you have?
    I've been looking for one that'll work in my 31 roadster.
    The cowl arc etc. looks to be the same as 32.
    Hi I am making a vent lever bracket for a 39 ford cowl vent. Does anyone have a picture of the cowl vent handle and mechanism they can post. Also does the handle push to open or pull to open. Should the handle knob be nearly against the firewall when vent is closed or just below the dash edge? Thanks everyone
