Yes, totally doable. Y block with a T5 yes. Modern Driveline sells an adapter plate to install trans to Y block. You may have to change the Clutch disc. Can't remember how many Splines the T5 has compared to the Y block. You may also have to alter the cross member, because the trans is longer. You also need a transmission yolk for the T5. Also have to make the drive shaft shorter. Not sure about the shifter, T5 has it at the rear of the trans. It may interfere with the seat in shifting. Unless you have bucket seats. There is a Company that mixes and matches S10, 5 speed and Ford 5 speed and moves the shifter 10 inches forward toward the front of the car. I know this works , my friend did it when we put a T5 in a Falcon, with stock bench seat. Hope this helps. Dave

There are more than one way to do this.

The way I chose is to use the Ford T-5, modify the Y-block bell housing and make a custom throw out bearing. Still haven’t installed it yet but I researched it thoroughly and it seems pretty straightforward.

There’s also an adapter plate that works with the Camaro trans with the longer input shaft. I believe with this technique the trans sits ****ed sideways a little bit.

The S-10 trans is popular for the smaller cars where you need the shifter to be located more forward.

There’s a few great threads here on this.

I'm curious as why you want to swap? The final drive ratios for a T5 and T85 OD are nearly identical.

For the Ford T-5 I used a truck bellhousing. The car bellhousing is not deep enough. Also, the 223 I-6 is same bolt pattern as the Y block V8. The

The center hole has to be bored open about an 1/8” and you have to add two bungs for the top transmission attach bolts. The bottom bolts line up perfectly.
