    Opinions vary. (Movie credit: Roadhouse)
My opinion....less is more on this truck. Because it is already bad, bad, BAD to the bone.
    Some accent striping. Nothing more.

    Maybe charcoal colored striping?

  2. Okay, I'll step a little further out on the limb here.

I like panel strips when done with something else that work along with them. I like Marks Vett all the way around. The white lines work for me because of the rest of the white stuff. White body insert, white Top and White upholstery. You can see all of this while walking up to the car. It's a package deal and all works well together. Also, this car sets in a Time Frame when this was the Cat's ***. This car makes a statement all the way around. Without the white lines it would just be another Red Corvett in the parking lot.

Seeing this Black Truck from a distance it has Whitewalls and if the steering wheel is in the up position, you might see that it is semi white also. The upholstery is a Perl White like the chain covers but if I remember right you have to actually walk up and look down inside to see it thanks to the Black borders. I know Mitch and he will do a color mix that will complement the colors. For me it's just to much of one thing at first glance. Seeing a Black anything from a distance makes me want to go critic the quality of Body Work that was done and make sure it's worthy of wearing Black. In this case I would not be disappointed, then I would admire the rest of the Truck.
I know, I know, my Taste is all in my mouth and I know what I like when I see it. All those white lines remind me of a Crime Scene, and I might just keep walking and miss a good show. Sometimes less is more. Kinda like Stilettos and Fishnet.

    This is my preference.

I don't want to ruin what I have. I want to enhance it.
I am not disagreeing. It just may

Yes, I realized I did that wrong. I like the belt line but it does not get that and a panel job. Totally agree now that I mocked it up.

You have no idea how close you are to what I was thinking while doing the body work. Double gold panel stipes, gold around the spider caps, Bandit Billy on the door, CB antenna, rebel flag up front. I would have done all the engine turning in gold. Of course I would have needed a Poncho 6.6 to be correct. It was an option.

Of course I also thought about buying this wrap for the side of my car trailer. I found a company that reproduces them in all sizes. I still may do the trailer, but then I am going to have to pinstripe my Silverado.

Imagine the Swillco roadster without the stripes... yawn, another black ford.... @Bandit Billy instead of paneling the raised part of the box side it needs to be striped an inch from the outer edges and you need to box stripe the doors. Your striper will know what to do. Please do not let the street rodders here talk you out of the potentially coolest part of your truck and the part that makes it memorable and not just another black Ford

    I try to.:(

When commenting on a pic of it on the highway, another fellow said it looked like a bunch of panels rolling down the road. I thought that was pretty funny. And yeah...

That would be so cl***y on the panel on the bed sides, too bad the fenders would be in the way and ruin it.:(

And now look at the Facial Expressions on the faces of the people facing the Roadster.

This is one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make. I like the Swilco car but it had to grow on me. I didn't immediately go for it.

Maybe I should build a bobber Snowman truck!

Ouch. Likely the face I would have made trying to wrap my head around it.

Another thing to consider is how hard it would be to polish it 5 years from now without removing the lines. Or doing a repair heaven forbid. I only put a few lines on my 34 and my buffer removed some accidentally. I can only imagine how hard this would be but I guess a lot of masking tape and hand polishing?

Yeah hand polishing is your friend. Its even more touchy than buffing near a corner or edge. Mainly just detailer or a light wax, but avoid the striping and never ever let oven cleaner near it, lol.

    Nice come back.

My lines will be Wimbledon White, not so bright that will help. And tiny. This guy can lay lines.
Check this out, talk about painting "inside the lines". I can't write that small with a Bic!

I really wanted to do this kind of thing (Desoto Hemi Equipped, or Power by Desoto...ford valve cover ripoff) on my hood sides, but it just doesn't seem to work with the panel stripes.

I always thought that striping should be like makeup on a woman's face, when you look at it and you notice the striping first, it's overdone and isn't right!

Her makeup is definitely not where my eyes go first. Good point. I guess what I want is somewhere between what you just said and what Tim said a page back,
"The lines make a huge difference. If I saw it across the parking lot with no stripes I’d say “that looks cool I’ll have to look at it later” if I saw it with the stripes I’d say “oh ****, you guys wait I’ve got to go look at that”

Yeah he’ll know what you mean.

It might not seem like it but there’s a pretty huge gap between a car with panel stripes and the cars that all you talk about is the panel stripes.

Sometimes you got get out of the way and let people do their jobs.

Buffer guy coming over tomorrow to work so I bagged up the tires and the Hemi, and removed the tailgate chains.
    upload_2024-2-18_17-13-0.jpeg
I had to lay the radiator back to clear the hood, in doing so I opened a gap in that air panel on top. So I figured I'd address that today and I wasn't thinking and put a couple of dents in the upper panel I was bending. Dumb ***!
Hard to see but there are near the center and one on the right (that I turned into 3 somehow).
    upload_2024-2-18_17-15-36.jpeg
Realizing I wasn't going to fix this easily I found a piece of aluminum under the work bench, cut it to size, polished it, engine turned it and riveted it on.
    upload_2024-2-18_17-17-34.jpeg
That little shield up front is for the hood lever. As someone else said earlier, the latch lever doesn't hit the panel, thus the latch handle doesn't release. Most people use a rubber block or silicon there but I am not most people so I made that out of aluminum and turned it. I put some 3M clear bra on top to protect it for now. Yes, it is off center, so is the latch lever. Deal! I should have made it wider, centered it and ran it from the hole forward to the safety latch.
If there is time I still may. I thought this way it might be a bit less visible.

Really like your use of turned panels on the truck.

on your on board battery charger, is that wired in all the time and you just have to plug it in?

Tires and wheels make a huge impact! I should have mocked up the stripes with the wheels covered.

Yep. I hard wired it to the battery, so you just have to open the door and plug it in. It has a quick connect plug but I just leave it plugged in. Same on my roadster, the little suitcase the battery is in houses the tender as well. I am happy to say that this morning it was back to 100% charge.

If you have an AGM battery, these smart chargers are fantastic!

Sounds clever I’ll have to look into that. Do you have a photo of how it connects to the battery?

Most of them come with a small harness that connects to the battery with ring terminals.

Exactly. It came with a hard wire harness and an alligator clamp harness.

My battery is inside but I put the hardwire on the bulkhead connector. Tucks up when not in use but can charge with doors closed.

I like that. Some day we may incorporate "tesla" style charge ports for our tenders, behind a taillight or hidden panel...I think I am going to pour another drink.

I like the cab reveal/hood stripe and maybe the bed side panel. I think the black fenders are the background for the chrome wheels and white walls.

I’m in (who cares?) for stripes on the body and hood bead, louvers and bed panel. Negative on the rest. Maybe double 1/16” instead of one fat one. YOMV.
Well that’s the plan for mine if it ever gets to that stage.
