  4. We had a Car-O-Liner frame bench donated. With mechanical measuring. This year we’re covering welding and cutting. This 57 Chevy truck chassis is one of the projects.
    IMG_3980.jpeg IMG_3979.jpeg
these make an excellent chassis build bench.
We’re removing some poor frame mods.
Might even do a HAMB era friendly graft with a 64 c10 front suspension set up I have. :):) Ive always liked the rear trailing arm set ups those have. I’d like to install one on this.
Students located the bench centerline, cut tubing to mount the chassis, squared the chassis with a porta-power and tacked in a spreader bar. Center and rear frame sections are now square and centered with the bench.
welding students cut plates that mount in the side track system of the bench so we can support the rear during the C-notch and front pieces during construction

Agreed. I wish I had instructors like you when I was in school. We didn't even have a shop class. Good work Anthony!

Anthony, as you know I’m a retired teacher though I do a lot of subbing/TOCing. I’m always interested on what your students do as a lot of people think they take classes on becoming degenerates. You and I know different. So please pass on my congratulations from way up in the Greater Vancouver, BC, CANADA.

Man, that’s great the students got to talk with people from industry. There is a real shortage of people in the trades, it good to see young people who don’t mind getting dirty to make a living. People who can make and fix stuff will always be needed.

  20. Hopefully a forum friendly graft. 63 to 66 frame graft to a 57 Chevy chassis.
It was cheap. Most folks go after the 73 up stuff. The earlier ones are just as easy to mess with
    IMG_6961.jpeg
Both frames are 34 inches wide.
    The inside will be plated.
The 57 frame was taller than the c10. The graft area was chosen to blend the 2 different heights together.

  23. Well, we try.
No overlaps unless it’s a factory seam.
It finally clicked for this young man
Fit, scribed and trimmed the piece on his own. Laid down a really nice weld.
Biggest gap to fill was probably less then the ,023 wire being used.
He texted me later in the day for those pics I took.
I really like when they take or ask for pictures

The young man will remember the interest and the coaching you gave him all his days , wanting pics means to me that he has pride in his accomplishments, you are to be commended. When you said it clicked for him I can relate. I was in a Statics course and struggling with the basic concepts, the instructor sat down with me and we talked about my struggles and all of sudden as if switching a light on everything made sense. I aced everything from there on. I owe that instructor more than I could ever give him all because he didn’t give up on me.

    Unless Abigail Beecher teaches there:cool:
Hey everybody, get out of the street now
I hear the roar of an XK-E now
    Flops and sweater and ponytail
And the cop on the corner is turnin' pale
    Whoa, it's Abigail Beecher
    Our history teacher
All the kids are just crazy about her
Central High would be a drag without her
She knows her history from A to Z
She'd teach a monkey in Watusi
    Whoa, it's Abigail Beecher
    Our history teacher
    Whoa
We're out in the hall and changin' classes
    Plays guitar, wears blue sunglasses
    She's friendly, pop'lar and a real swinger
She's gonna be a rock 'n' roll singer
    Whoa, it's Abigail Beecher
    Our history teacher
    Whoa
History class is gettin' bigger and bigger
They come for miles 'cause they really dig her
    The PTA was really floored
When she walked in with a red surfboard
    Whoa, it's Abigail Beecher
    Our history teacher
    Whoa
    Come on, girl
    Aw, you're too much
    Whoa
    Come on, girl
    Whoa
