Built for my show room. Changing I beam front axle and bones to 38 Ford tube axle and hairpins. Pictures this afternoon. 215 Olds engine. Camaro 5 speed. 201 Halibrand. Buick rear brakes. Frankland open backing plates. Howe pedal ***embly.
Cool frame. What kind of jig did you ***emble it in? How did you get all the bends in the right places? Construction pictures? We need details, man!
Vintage front and rear suspension. Vintage front adjustable friction shocks with vintage dog bone links. Your comment inspired me to change to vintage 97's.
Milled intake for level for level engine. 7 degree caster built into hairpin mounts. [ Formerly called bat wings ] I need one more Oldsmobile name plate.
The jig was made for frame straightening. Applied Power gave it to my BFF. I gave him $200.00 for delivering it to me. I welded two 4 foot I beams across. Very universal. I built LOTS of different frames on it abiet very time consuming what with all measuring and re measuring. On bending. I have a run of the mill bender. I most likely made a test bend and now I know where to put the clamp to start the bend and where the bend will end up. Notice 4 different bends. Some notes are on my drawing. The jack notes are measuring the ram.
That's where I made a big mistake. I wasn't thinking about a body. I only intended it for my showroom/museum. I have fitted a Speedway Motors sprint car nose. The radiator is done too. A customer and I built a T bucket ch***is. 2 X 4 mandrel bent rails and a Q C of course. He intends to widen the steel 25 body to fit. We got the length of the body off the internet. He reports the body fits real good. Flathead powered. Sorry I deleted the pictures.
Here's a single spine jig I used one time only to build an offset supermodified. 1970. I made a longer left header plate . It is a bolt in frame section.
This reminds me of the roadster tube ch***is that the Logghe Stamping Company used to offer in their catalog. In addition to their Top Fueler and Funny Car race cars they had a street roadster frame made from round tube. Very nice concept
Did some more cutting on the track nose today and decided to use Dietz 820 D lights. With 2" G C the top of the nose is even with the top of the tires.
All small pieces back from the production chrome shop. 4 day turn around. I prepped the parts. Some pieces gl*** beaded. Some pieces 400 grit finished. Some pieces polished. $225.00. The hairpins, ladder bars and front axle to a custom chrome shop. $650.00. I polished them. Not done yet. Top side welding done years ago. Because of my tremer I will be sending the frame out to weld the bottom side.
I welded on the bottom side about 3 hours last night. Going to weld some more to day. Have a new powder coater to do the frame, $600.00. Original guy in Concord shut down his powder coating business.
I have always had a serious craving to build crazy street drag roadster or coupe with a frame like this since the first time I saw one on the cover of mooneyes catalog years ago. Kick *** project, keep up the good work!
Frame and leaf springs back from powder coating. Front axle, hair pins and ladder bars back from chrome shop.
