Art & Inspiration AVATAR CURIOSITIES

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Feb 24, 2024.

  1. Every now and then I notice where someones Avatar has changed, I have also swapped my past builds I have even gone as far as using a photo of my grandmother with her pet turkey for the month of November and Evil Santa around the Christmas Holidays

Some of us use a car or truck that has a special place in the heart, others may use family photos, person, place or thing.

My current avatar shows the South Carolina State Flag. HRP

My Avatar is the original Corn Cob Coupe, thus my H.A.M.B. name.

The 28 Dodge 3 Window Coupe body was found in a corn crib.

This picture is the only one I have of the Corn Cob Coupe that my fellow Mod Rocky took.

  3. I change my avatar every time I change cars, which is every one or two years…

I haven't changed my avatar but have gotten the comment 'your dog has been eating razor blades' :D

In truth, many years ago a good mate of mine moved across country to work in an iron ore mine to qualify for more trades and earn some dollars. He said to me that the land over there was really rich in iron.

I asked 'could you put an earth strap on a rock and weld mild steel to it ?'

This is the pic I got back

    My dad about 1956.
A year before I was born.
"Barnstorming" atop his and his buddy's '32 Fords. Dad had the stock 2dr with dual straight-pipes. His buddy had the coupe behind it.

I thought that shot of me preparing a V8 to replace the banger in ‘64 seemed appropriate.

I think that mine is sorta self explanatory; I was removing the drip rails.
Notice the clever non use of the safety equipment.
It was a pain welding up the hole that I created in the roof during the photo shoot.

Mine is of the car of my dreams! My Dad almost bought low mileage white 65 XL in 1965! I got to ride in it as my sister drove us to get a coke in a little town near the ranch, while we tried it out for a day! I loved that car, but my Dad decided to wait till 1966 and buy a 1966 four door sedan! The difference in those two cars is amazing! I still wonder what my life would have been like if I got to drive that 1965XL in town instead of the family sedan! My 55 was in the shop most of the time around then! Many years passed, I kept remembering, so a few years ago my BIL called and asked if I was still looking for “ that car”? He found one 11 miles from my house! After I had looked everywhere….all over the USA! 11 miles… right condition, right price! Mine!
It will be mine, when they put me in the box!

My avatar is my '41 Willys pickup nostalgia gasser in the doorway of my shop with its trailer just outside the door. In the original you can see the faded words "Race Car" on the side of the trailer. I've thought of changing it several times, but that picture represents my unfulfilled dream of going drag racing with a Hemi powered Willys.
    I was this close.....

Clarence at the 2003 HAMB Drags, lined up and running against hotrodladycruiser. Denise could have removed 3 plug wires and still had more engine than me.

After she learned how much faster she was she started to gently roll into her throttle and do the homecoming queen wave going down the track with the convertible top down. We raced every year for a long time.

When it got out of paint jail recently I changed to a current pic. Tman suggested I go back to the vintage pic and I agreed. So there it stays.

Mine is an oil painting I did of my car. Even though it still looks like an incomplete barn find, I can say I "painted" my car.

Mine is the "built" 331 in my dirt mod. 12.5:1 pistons, Engle roller tappet, Cirrelo "Frankenstein" magneto etc.

I'll never change it. (It sure cost me enough).

That's Me on the tow bar, buddy Don at the wheel, 1968.
    The front cabriolet was his.
Didn't know of the pic 'til 2 and a half years ago, when presented by my sister.
    Probably stayin' with it

I was on a road trip with my car, stopped at a junkyard to look around. Ask if I could get a picture of my car “hanging with some friends”

I have sort of brought my nephews along to learn the fun of playing around with old cars and one of them made the piston man as a gift for me. I guess I was the uncle who always had a cool car of some sort.

I ran into Vic Edelbrock Jr at Watkins Glen one year and got a picture with him.
He was there with his daughter Cammie and they had some vintage TransAm series race cars.

  29. I change mine every now and then but have had this one for quite a while now mainly because it is of me doing what I like to do. I think the pic was taken by @travisfromkansas a few years ago.
