I would like to install the shorter windshield (like the Deluxe had) on my 28 RPU. There is a whole lot that I don’t know about this subject. If the stancions are supposed to be removable on the 28 then somebody used body filler to (clean up?) the joint, I can see the faint outline of a screw head. I see that there is a gentleman selling chopped stancions in the “parts for sale” section of the HAMB, would those fit my 28 or only the later 30-31 body? I would also be interested in a “raked windshield” as well but that just brings up more questions such as “can it be done?”, “where to buy the correct stancions?”, “what windshield and where to buy it?” I know this is all doable it’s a matter of sourcing the parts and then of course, the price tag,
Originally only one size windshield for 28-29 roadsters. And they did have a non-adjustable stanchion. The tilt down stanchtion began in 30. Some guys have made new tilting bases for 28-29 but I don’t know what upper posts they use on them or how tall they would be.
There's no deluxe windshield for a 28/29 open car. They're all the same height. You can buy chopped windshield posts (stanchions) and windshield frames from several vendors (like speedway), but they're 2" only. If you want more chop, you have to do it yourself. If you buy steel stanchions, you can pie cut them to lean them back and chop them to your desired height easily. Windshield frames are fairly easy to chop. For a raked windshield either cut the stanchions yourself or buy the ones that John Lee Williamson sells here on the hamb. Those are your options.
