348 in a 50 Buick swap?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jalopy Kid, May 10, 2011.

  1. The 348 looks like a snug fit. For a big block, it fairly compact, no?
I've got a 350 Chev here ready to go in my 52 with a t400 auto.
You're post really has got me wanting mine in too.:)

I have started this today on my 55 Special. I opted for a free 8.8 Explorer diff and plan on a 200R4. My mock up is using the factory spring mounts and factory location however I read in this thread you mounted the springs on an extended piece of box tubing either I don't understand what you mean or something can you please give a few more details about the spring mounts? I have attached some pics of mine just beginning the mock up. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 3.jpg

Very good older thread. I am currently working on a 1950 special and this looks like a good way to go eventually.

  6. Hey @Jalopy Kid, like Ray is it OK to use your design for the front truck arm mount in my 40? I shortened my arms 3" to give a little more room. Although an older thread, still applicable for us Buick guys. Since the C/L of the rear spring is behind the axle C/L on my cars, I plan on fabricating a lollypop shaped bracket the sandwiches between the pad and arm, held by the U-bolt. Will share pics when I get that far.
