I picked up this bell housing with a home built two inch adaptor spacer in a multi 215 purchase. The 1" plate probably triples the weight. Perhaps one of the parts number gurus can identify it with the driver side starter boss. The number on the flange is 1539082.

For real. That's it sticking up behind the red 300 in front of the green milk crate. I just grabbed the whole pile. Two 215's the 300, and I think a Rover 3.9 or 4.0.
Any idea from the numbers? It will unbolt from the bellhousing.

And depending on the kind of wood the smoke could offset the exhaust smell.

IMG_2017.png You could use some mechanics wire to hang a pork chop above the muffler hanger and then you could have a smoked pork chop after a few miles of cruising.

My research turned up this casting number as being for a Studebaker.

  15. In the early days of hot-rodding Jeeps (well, maybe not EARLY, but in the early '60s) there were some similar adaptors to mate different engines to Jeep transmissions. Someone identified the numbers as being Studebaker, which was a common Jeep conversion. I have an old drawing around here somewhere that is for a flathead Ford to Jeep adaptor that IIRC is about 2" thick. "Necessity is a Mother!"

If you want to receive an incredible look from a "keyboard jockey" of a chain auto parts store, ask that person if they carry "petcocks". The look I recently received from the young man behind the counter was priceless and he had absolutely NO idea what I was talking about. After a brief, uncomfortable stare-down between he and I, he said "let me talk to the manager". I'm sure he thought I was either "putting him on" or propositioning him!

    True story
Many years ago I worked with a guy that (quite regularly) made us cringe seeing some of the cars he drove, one day we are having our half hour lunch by the big roll up door and the guy pulls in with this clapped out Pinto and proceeds to take the cam cover off the engine.
We figured Kenny was up to no good (again), we were right, he gets the cover off, grabs a portable mig welder and welds up a couple of the lobes on the camshaft, then proceeds to dress the welds with an angle grinder, concerned, we say WTF are you doing Kenny.
He tells us how he had been milking this Pinto for some time and that he barely made it to work today because the thing would barely run, said "it just needs to get him home".
Apparently it did because the next day he pulls into the parking lot with the Pinto and says "it's good to go, gonna milk it some more".
We called him "squirrel" for a reason!

I don't know what % it carries, but some place in there the "OH! So that was where that part (bolt, nut, or long searched for item) disappeared to. I knew it had to be here someplace!"

A few years ago I bought a metal detector. My son told me it wouldn't work to find the missing tools & parts in the shop.

I bought a car last year and when I took off the rocker boxes this is what I found.
It sort of amused me... for a minute.
