Nothing remotely HAMB friendly. Only car close is the white 56 Chevy sedan. I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder?

Or in the eye of the check writer. Lol

  3. I pick the green Mercury just because it reminds me of my first car even though that body style was never offered, I still long to have it back. Mine was even almost the same shade of gold/green.

Woof! The only "riddle" left unanswered is where is the creativity? This tucked bumper, big wheel, LS stuff has been done. I would save the award for another year, tell them to go home and sharpen their colored pencils.

There are lots of cars that I would pick before the eight that are in the group.

I just googled Great Eight and saw the contenders for this year, what a waste of time and money! I am a Mercury guy from way back but that off topic “Cat/Horse” is piss poor. Sure glad there is more to see at the show other than the “8”, tuners, and Batmobiles.

Like slowing down to look at an Interstate wreck, looks like nobody got hurt. Are there any photos of the cars that didn't qualify?

  8. The Cougar is the only one that would get a second look from me. Get rid of the big wheels and put on a set of 15" polished dish or five spoke mags and you could drop that into 1970. Almost (but not quite, there's a few awkward spots) looks like a factory prototype... As for the rest.... Meh...

`I've got my favorite out of the batch. I'll just sit back and wait to see if I was right or not.

The car that introduce's the LEAST amount of gut wrenching nausea should be the winner.

    I picked two...
The one I think will win.
And the one I hope wins.

You don't have to show the cars but a link to the list doesn't violate security does it?

    Quick edit:
Saw them Thurs nite. None of them moved much more than bowel gas in me, but based on overall quality and execution I have my #1, frankly it's really obvious.

What has happened to past Ridler contenders/winner?
Ever see one on the street or a cruise night?

I'm a 50s/60s Mopar freak and that Chrysler with a wheel and tire change would be a great cruiser. Even better with a 'real hemi', 392 that is.

Those 8 guys are lucky that I don't have a trailer, and I'm not sure my car would make it to Detroit!

I can sure appreciate the effort and craftsmanship it took to build these cars but I wouldn't be interested in owning any one of them.

I’m guessing the one who checked the most boxes will get the award and not one where body panels are left stock.. too bad.

I looked at them on line and you have to appreciate the paint. Outstanding. I know how hard it is to paint a street car, a pure show car? Fogetaboutit. The engine in the Cougar? Wow. Who wouldn't want that? Teh interiors are superb, highest levels of craftsmanship. The cars? meh. But the effort and execution is amazing!

Old cars just don't look right with those projector headlights. They just don't fit.

while those cars are not my style I see that Kindig guy there with the 53 looking Vette. again not what I'd do but I do like watching cars like this being built on Motor Trend TV. the craftsmanship is incredible

Before the HAMB I used to watch “overhaulin” and actually liked the big wheel, rubber band tires, but then it seemed overdone, and really don’t like them at all now.
But I’m not judging at the show, so my opinion is worthless.
As mentioned, the quality of the builds, paint work, etc is certainly top notch and I’d certainly take any of them and park it here, if raffled off and I won.
