used to be back in the day, when you ran those tires you took them to the truck stop and had them trued.... you would almost cry as you watched them cut half the rubber off them to make them round... I personally never got lucky enough to get a set that was round to start..

Its there to cover the threads, just for show...thats what the original owner did, so we left it. Also, found come cut up cow magnets in the heads where the oil drains back into the block...no one's ever seen that before but glad they were there when three valve springs broke.

Interesting. The Pro-tracs came in, 445/50-15 and the tread width are the same, about 15". But they stand taller by about an inch (without air).

You think there would be any interest in my old tires (not rims)? They are at least 40 years old but look in great shape. Or direct me to a place to list them...

Tube Problem! When installing the large RandH off set tubes in the Pro-Trac tires on the magnesium rims the second tire was leaking air. At first, they thought the air was leaking from between the tube and tire...but it was something else. Upon removal we found this (see pics).

I know what the installer suspects. Talked to the vendor and heard his comments. They would not replace the tube. Anyone experience this or have some input on why or what failed???

I will say we inflated the original 43-year-old tube and the new one, the valve stems were in the same place.

I'd guess the glue or "vulcanizing" didn't hold, due to dirty surface(s). I'd be real tempted to carefully remove the rest of the stem-molding, clean, scuff, reclean, & "Monkey-Grip glue" patch it back together. Since they'll not replace their defective tube, & the re-glue wouldn't be any worse than a regular patch, why not? Nothing to lose except some time & a bit of effort.
