Hey, y'all-- Thought you might like a sneak peek at what's hittin' your mailbox and/or your newsstand real soon. If you live in the Southeastern U.S., you'll now be able to find GARAGE at 7-11 in addition to the usual suspects. For everyone else, we'll be moving into 7-11 across the country soon and in the meantime, you can still find us at Wal-Mart, Barnes&Noble, Borders, Hastings and loads of indie shops... Look for our own Butt Reynolds and all his buddies in this issue as we tear it up GARAGE (and HAMB) style in Louisville, KY! Also, dig on our secret HAMB member's jaunt down memory lane with Brock Yates and Bobby Green's bitchin' bellytank--you want HAMB, you got HAMB! STONER
Yup! That's the Gold Digger strategically placed between A.J.'s legs. If you saw Jesse's "History Of The Chopper," you'll recognize it. You wouldn't believe that bike in person--it's a radical machine. And if you watch "Overhaulin," you'll recognize A.J.--sweeeeeeeeet... And if you've ever seen a good punk show in Long Beach, you'll recognize Alex's Bar!
One more thing--I'm gonna let you in on a secret--we're going bi-monthly next year, so sign up for a subscription right now and take advantage of the quarterly prices! Shhhhhhhh...this is just between us, mkay?
We are a dealer now. But I am STILL waiting for some back issues to sell at the Pileup... which is in 7 days. I have to say I am a little disapointed. I have personally promoted Garage since day one. Now I am in a position with work to help get the word out and sell the mag and I can't seem to get any back issues for the biggest show in the midwest all year long... FULL of Garage's exact demographic. I just don't get it...
hey stoner...how's that work going on getting sophie howard for the cover that you hinted at last time around?
That bike is bitch'in in person. I was checking it out when they hauled it up the lift to the 2nd level in Jesse' shop. Simo was showing his brother and I around the shop and what goes on down there in the bike building process. And yes, Dayna would look great on a cover of the mag or inside it. Have met her a couple of times now that she lives here in L.A. Very nice person. KNUX!
Not to be ig'nant here but what do you guys cover in the mag? Is it a hot rod type mag or covering shops, or kinda like a lifestyle mag? I haven't seen it here in OKLA.
Go onto the website and check it out a bit. Loks better in yer hands flippin through the pages to be honest with ya. KNUX!
Django--hey, your order is shipping early this week. We'll get you taken care of... Skaj--Sophie's in England, but she's on our shortlist (thanks to you) for GARAGEgals! Keep posted and I'm still working on scheduling and availability for her. Don't think I forgot about her! And since the question came up, lemme take a minute to describe GARAGE: it's a lifestyle magazine dedicated to car culture. We don't focus on ONLY trad stuff, but you'll definitely see great traditional-inspired cars and their builders. We do cover historical stuff--drag racing, artists, builders, movements, etc. We also produce travel features centered around actually driving customs, rods and bikes. Speaking of bikes, we're featuring more of them and their owners/builders than ever before, too. You'll also find music, book, website, product and DVD reviews on shit that we know you'll love--some of which you've probably never seen before. What GARAGE is NOT, is a traditional hot rod magazine. And it ain't a car magazine, either. But if you want all the best of the lifestyle you helped create, then you'll like what we're doing.
Ya'll might weant to some how change what your catgorized as in retail. I always have to look near the mens health/lifestyle mags to find yours. They never put it in the car section....
I cant find this mag anywhere. I looked a wally world and krogers. I guess I need to hit a news stand.
1Low-- That's a very interesting topic you raise: we never have any control over where the magazine is located once it reaches the store. The newsstand manager loads the copies depending on a few things: 1. if the title paid for a promotion that gets them a "front facing" or rack pocket or endcap 2. Where the owner of the newsstand wants it to be located 3. Sometimes, it's just up to the distributor rep who physically loads the new issues onto the stands Once it ships, it's not ours anymore. What I mean is, we create the magazine, but its success is up to everyone else once it leaves our hands. And how it's perceived--and where it sits on the stands--is up to you!
Dude, I've actually grabed a handfull of them and put them in the car section. I hope it wasn't out of line, but I want other car guys to find it too!
Fuck yeah!! I do the SAME thing, dood! That wasn't outta line at all! And if you don't see it at a store (and have the patience to dick with the cashier), ask them for it--you wouldn't believe how powerful that can be. I've seen GARAGE carried in a store simply because one guy asked for it after not seeing it on the stands. Now, that store is a constant carrier...
I've spoken up for Garage since the beginning,Stoner.....even with that "Make a run for the Border" Logo.......
I have a subscription and still have not received issue#10. I have emailed several times and never get a response.
36--you should see an email from me about your sub. And speaking of subscriptions, all y'all with subs should be seeing your issue show up in your mailbox any day now. Looking forward to hearing what you think! STONER
The article about the Old Cyclone Quick Change Rears and Flat head heads was pretty bitchin'. I like that mag alot....... very classy, lotsa good, old, photography and not a chocked full of a buncha scenesters like ol skool rods. Mostly just good stuff on hot rod and motorcycle history.
