Congratulations to all who have beaten this dreadful disease. Condolences to those and their loved ones and friends who have not. An older brother beat bladder cancer, my mother was not as fortunate with lung cancer. But as a nearly life-long smoker, she could hardly avoid the consequences.

  3. Just been recently diagnosed. Great doctors, treatment started and I'm making plans for the future.

    Fuck you cancer !!

I too am fortunate to be in the survivor's club, surgery and the radiation. All clear now for 6 years and I give thanks daily. I owe my survival to my annual physicals a very alert Doctor and help from the Big Guy upstairs! Don't put it off Guys and make damn sure that they include a P.S.A. test!

Great to see all the survivors on here. I am in a huge battle with prostate cancer. Stage IV advanced metastatic. Finished 26 days of radiation to prostate and lymph nodes. Most recent scan showed it spread to one rib. Prostate cancer loves to spread to bone.
Make the most of what we have.......tell everyone you know.......get your PSA tested regularly regardless of what your doctor may suggest and regardless of what your insurance may cover........just DO IT

March 12 , 2024 , will be 31 years Stage 4 ( lymph node ) cancer free . Live everyday like it’s your last and die doing something you love with someone you love . Never stop telling your loved ones you truly love them with all your heart . It could all me a memory in warp speed .

  9. March 31,,2021,,,,,,they cut my spine open and removed a vertebrae and a 6 inch tumor .
The disc at Lumbar and Sciatic area,,,,,man,,,,,,it was a blessing getting it fixed .
I had no idea that pain was involved with cancer,,,,,,boy was I dumb !
After the surgery the pain was almost nothing at all much .

The doctor said mine was caused from chemicals ,,,I believe it .
I remember lying in that bed looking at the ceiling and thinking about all that brake clean I used to use .
I used to buy it by the case,,,,,and of course I never dreamed of using any gloves to protect my hands.
My skin would be chalky white sometimes,,,,,,what a moron !

    Anyway,,,,I’m good now,,,,,learned to walk again .
And if anything good came out if this,,,,,I always make sure my son wears gloves when using any strong chemicals .

  11. Esophageal cancer, tumor removed July 2020, radiation, chemo, had two kidney stones removed while recuperating, got shingles again while two tubes (J-tube for nutrition for six months; Foley catheter after the kidney stone removal for one month) kept me semi-mobile. Once tubes were out and it appeared I might survive, I turned my attention to finishing the '29 AA I'd been working on since 1974. I just had my latest semi-annual CT scan, which showed no concerns. I'm about to put together the 351W and AOD I've rebuilt over the past two years. I want to start it up and run in the engine before I've had the thing 50 years (mid-June). Just sayin', cancer. I kicked you to the curb and stomped you nearly four years ago and I'll beer truck you if you show up again.

I know someone who had a melanoma; left it to a beyond-ridiculous point when it had become an ugly, ugly growth. Finally saw a doctor and went to a cancer treatment-specialising hospital. Surgeon there wanted to cut it out, along with probably the bottom of his ear, (followed by chemotherapy I think). Oncologist spoke to surgeon and the decision was to treat with immunotherapy. Two drugs, 'ipi' and 'nivo': ipilimumab and nivolumab. Initially, both drugs were administered on the same day, with three weeks between treatments. Before he had the second treatment the growth was reducing in size noticeably. Treatment eventually went to just one of the drugs, then stopped. To look at him now you wouldn't know that he had a melanoma unless you were told. He was lucky to be one of the 40 to 60% who respond positively to the drugs. The oncologist said that research would be trying to discover why some do not respond positively.

Congratulations, and welcome to the club none of us ever wanted to join. I’m 3 years and three days out from losing a kidney to renal cancer.
I got off easier than many, so I remain thankful, and reminded that every day is a gift.

  15. I had a piece of skin cancer removed from one ear almost 2 years ago. Looks like I went out to lunch with Mike Tyson. I skipped the reconstruction, chicks dig guys with scars.

My sister (her birthday is tomorrow) beat breast cancer, been free of it for 5 years. They caught it early and she did radiation, no surgery or chemo.

I've had multiple myeloma for 2 and 1/2 years. There is no cure, but the treatment is extremely good. My cancer is down to a level that will let me live for years to come. I will always have to take chemo pills, but thank God there are no side effects. Good luck to you.

    Seriously happy for you.

They're looking at a small thing in my lung. They'll look at it again in 3 months. Glad you posted. Listening to you guys talk about it makes me a little less scared.

    FFFFFFFFF-UCK cancer!

Everybody keep fighting the good fight.

Four years ago, I had a chunk of my neck removed due to melanoma.

Fortunately for me, they were able to pull one of my extra chins over to make up the difference.

Checked our clean last month, so hoping to continue this trend. May we all not be visited by this bastard illness ever again.

17 years for me come Easter. Can’t actually believe it was that long ago!

Chin up and keep moving forward, do the fun stuff while now, don’t put it off, seems you’ve worked that out anyway! And look after your loved ones, they always seem more upset than we do

First diagnosed with non Hodgkins lymphoma in 2017 , 5 months of chemo , at 5 hours each session , everything looked good until March 2019 when a slightly different form of
Non Hodgkins lymphoma showed up on my CT scan . This version is not curable , but is treatable. 14 rounds of radiation , so far so good . Feel great and am able to do most things , I'm very thankful , I've had a great life !

Had bladder cancer 7 years ago. Did mandatory injection treatments with an additional 3 that my urologist recommened. Happy to say every year when I go for the follow up scope ( never fun , but over quickly), I’m clean. I agree 100% that bladder cancer or any cancer SUCKS.

  24. We lost my wife's mom late in 2011... my wife's dad used Round Up, he put that shit on everything, and crowed about it to anyone who would listen. Well... my wife's mom was an avid gardener and at ground zero with that poison while tending her plants.

The old man never made the connection between her cancer and his beloved weed killer, despite a plethora of TV commercials about the lawsuits against it. Be careful out there!

Congrats to all of you who are survivors. It was non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for me. I’ll be a 34 year survivor in May.

I'm a year out from surviving Stage 3 Colon cancer. Had to wear a bag for three months. I still have my port in, just in case. All of you fellow survivors, I'm with ya 100 percent. When I was doing chemo, I realized the grim truths of the disease, how it didn't distinguish anyone or age....some of my fellow friends had battled multiple attacks of it. Being the HAMB, I thought this was about RUST! Prayers and Fellowship to all dealing with this.
