I'm looking for some info that will help me with an engine swap.
First question, are there any engine mount kit's to convert a 1954 chevy 1/2 ton pickup from the stock inline 6 to a SBC that will make the installation easier or will I have to fab up a set?
Second question, will the stock steering box/column fit with a SBC or will I also have to fab up something?
Any advice appreciated, thanx for helping!

The stock steering can be used by spacing the box out from the frame about 1 & 1/2 inches. Or you can offset the motor to the right by the same amount.

No Kits that I know of, but new stuff hits the nmarkwet all the time.

I used a kit I believe from chassis engineering, went really well. The trany crossmember bolted up to existing holes, the motor mounts had to be ground slightly to fit. Tip: do the trany mount first if you are using an HEI, this puts the motor 1/2 inch further forward than what the instructions say but you'll need that clearance(catalog said for points dist. only)

Thanx, I'll try looking for the chassis engineering website!
The info on the steering box sounds good, but how do you get the column to work that way? Cut it and use a U-joint set up?

No u-joint, it just has a small angle to it. Not noticable unless you really look for it.

I had to cut about 1/4" out around the steering column to get my spacer between the steering box and frame, so that the column would bolt back up to the columndrop. PM me if you have any questions.
