Hey all. I recently broke my clutch down rod on my 1965 F100 and of course it’s the year that isn’t reproduced. My question is does anyone know where I could locate one? Or should I fab something up with heim joints? Or go cable? If anyone has suggestions please let me know.

  2. If it broke at the '90' on one end, just weld 'er back together. That's what I did on mine, worked for another 100+K miles...

Yeah it broke at the 90 inside the cab. Not sure if I lost any other parts off the bell crank but I guess I’ll find out. Thanks for the reply.

The F100 clutch rod is easily replaceable with a rod and a couple heim joints. Not only can it be adjustable, it can smooth the actuation.

I should have pointed you to post #50 on my build post. (Use the link below).
Has a photo of the rod rod end on the linkage rod. 3/8" rod ends. Needs a washer where it bolts to the arm for rod end body clearance.

Thanks pprather. I did not know the link doesn't come thru when viewing on a phone.
The rod I used is 3/8" steel straight from the tractor supply. I do have the means to easily cut threads for both left and right. Right hand thread on one end, left hand thread on the other so all you have to do is turn the shaft without unbolting from the arms to adjust. That is not necessary though. With right hand threads on both ends, it's still adjustable, but you would need to disconnect one end to lengthen or shorten the rod.

Thank you Mike! Looks good all the changes you did to the clutch system.
