  2. Is there a filament for 3D printers that can withstand the temps between the intake and the carb?

Take it to the next level. Universal to fit any carb. IMG_2547.jpeg

It usually starts and idles and runs for a short time, then suddenly dies, and might need to crank for a bit before restarting...and might die once or twice more.

kind of dangerous when it dies just after you pull out onto the main road.

It doesn't act like the fuel isn't pumping to the carb. I've had that happen on others...

Anyways, I'll get the duct thing working and see how it does, and proceed from there. Lots of discussion about this stuff on the early corvette forum, too.

with the occasional guy way up north who wonders what the fuss is about

Had a 68 Corvette that would do 100 mph on the freeway but would die going over a steep hill at a low mph.
Would also not want to start after sitting for a few minutes but was OK after about a ten minute wait.
Turns out it was a partially plugged inline fuel filter at the tank. Replaced fuel filter and problem solved.

Mine doesn't do it, It gets 100 degrees here at times, but I don't run corn gas and I have the heat risers blocked and it has 4 carbs. When I first got it I had some trouble with vapor lock. right or wrong I added an inline elect fuel pump on a switch and the few times it vapor locked after that the elect fuel pump overcame it

Forgot to mention. I had percolating of fuel post fuel pump. Something to look for with… IMG_1960.jpeg
Once I knew all was doing well again I went back to an all steel filter like yours.

  13. I've got a 62 Vette 340 hp aluminum intake that's ugly enough to be dirt cheap if you want it.

I still have to send you a box of brake parts, too....it's sitting in the garage waiting for me to mail it.

  17. Is it possible that this is a heat-soak electrical issue? IIRC you run points, but a condensor or coil could break down when hot. Both are easy and cheap to rule out.

How about a filter with a return line to the tank.
I have one on my '64 Avanti, it was a factory fix for the same problem

Getting to the tank to add a return line is kind of a pain on this car...but that is one of my last resort tricks.

is it possible the heat riser is stuck shut sending all the exhaust from that side thru the intake and heating the carb?

  28. When I had my last 340hp '62 45 years ago I ran a phenolic spacer and blocked the heat riser ports to the carb base and got rid of any vapor lock problems. No electric pump or clothespins.
