I drove this 300 miles round trip and got around 16 MPG!!!! I'm pretty surprised. 9.8-1, 5.7 rod 406 inch small block, Pretty big Brodix alum heads, big solid stick, 800CFM double pump Holley, 3.50 rear gears, 4-speed(NO overdrive).
AWESOME!!!! love your ride groucho, gives me the willys everytime i see it!!! who makes your rear wheels???
hell, you're getting better than i get in my 69 Chevy pickup and i don't have as much of that fancy go fast stuff as you do. did i see that car in a Hot Rod not too long ago?
I saw your car there... pretty sure I snapped a picture... my dodge dart slant six only gets 16 MPG!!!
Nice econobox. My 2004 Chevy Trailblazer gets 16 mpg and looks like every other blue one on the road. The only way it will get on the cover of a magazine is if GM pays for it to be there...
I ran 750+ miles one-way to the HRR in Bowling Green and got around 12mpg in my '55 Buick with 2x4 500cfm AFB's; 3.36 gears and a Super T-10 4-speed. $309 for gas Guess I'll save the road trips for the '37 Chevy coupe with a 235 & overdrive - got 23mpg avg. going to Rapid City & back (3600 miles !).
I'm surprised there's not more activity on this event also. I had a great time. Went to Squeeks "pub" nite on Thursday, the track all day on Friday, and most the day on Saturday. Came home, Saturday afternoon after having my fill, and went to Long Beach Swap Meet today. Sorry, no pics or stories, just a good time. Maybe everybody else feels the same way, and that explains the lack of more on this event?
