    Hello,

In 1963, our dad wanted to get a new car, as was his every 4 year buying sprees, since 1946. His first Buick was a 1941 Buick Fastback sedan. Then came a series of big 4 door sedans, until 1957 when he got his new 2 door Roadmaster sedan.

He skipped the 61-62 year, although we thought a bubble top Buick 2 door would have been rather cool for the teenage brothers to “borrow dad’s car” for the night.

But, he kept hearing rumors from his Los Angeles car connection friend about a new design coming for Buick. After several different choices in talks with our mom and both of us, he settled on a green 1963 Buick Riviera two door. It was his first really luxurious Buick sedan. The others were big and comfy, but this one was a great design and fit his needs just right.

His choice was good for us as we now had a big Buick with A/C and it looked like no other car at the time. A real factory custom car with a lot of new styling cues.

So, in thanking our dad for getting a “new” car in 1963, we were the recipients of a few nights out in “our dad’s new Buick Riviera” on cruise nights.

Out of all the cars I have owned and all the varied hues, I have only owned 2 green vehicles. 66 T-Bird and a 69 XR7 Convertible. They were both that dark green that Ford painted every other car off the line. I painted them both maroon.
