I can remember watching a Jack Zink car's first appearance at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds track sometime around 1961-62. It was the class of the field with the first offset chassis I had ever seen. As I recall, it got outlawed almost immediately. Picture is from the site "Racing from the past". The track is at Tulsa and both cars are Zink cars. The offset car, driven by Jackie Howerton is on the outside with Emmet Hahn on the inside.[IMG]

Is that a Tobias chassis? Looks like the one I bought to get my engine for my Model A out of.

Older Modifieds make me smile. The chassis went to Butch Kreiser. One of the last Tobias built chassis for a Modified.

The original owner of my car on the day I took her for a ride in it. She was one of the nicest people the world has ever seen! IMG_1372.jpeg

Springfield, IL Since there is a mile dirt track at the State Fair Grounds, this track was also known as "little Springfield" or "Shaheen's" after the promoter and owner Joe Shaheen. It was a high banked 1/4 mile; looked like a baby Eldora.

Lost my Mom in January. She loved cars and garages. At 81 she rode shotgun in the roadster at the 1/8th mile drags, cheered me on at TROG with my wife and Uncle John, something I'll never forget. My Dad was a car guy too, always had nice GM cars. Candid picture of Josh, Smooth, and myself backing out of the garage in Wildwood. These bring a smile to my face 7026.jpeg 5902.jpeg 6823.jpeg 13852.jpeg 13884.jpeg

That is one incredible pic! There is something surreal about it. Like a glimpse into a forgotten memory.
