    Damn damn damn.

We have been thrashing for three weeks straight .... living on caffine and little sleep, and we just fired her up for the first time yesterday, got her all tuned and dialed in this morning...... we were ready to hit the salt Tuesday, then I just got the call..... Bonneville is cancelled. Damn !!.
I guess a huge thunderstorm hit last night and dumped enough rain to call the event off.

The Model B is sounding soo good too. We dailed in the boost on the blower, and she sounds real healthy. Blows a beautiful 12 inch blue flame out the header when you let off.... so nice.
Well, I guess we'll run her at El Mirage on the 22nd. and look forward to next August.

Here are some pics of the motor. Enjoy.

that really sucks man but you don't know the half of the rain here...it's the fucking desert and it's been raining like it's the end of the world! i had to drive about 50mi in that storm yesterday and there was one point getting to the freeway that the road was flooded with a foot and a half of water.

It's just part of LSR racing. Salt 'N Peppers was done and ready for Speed Week '93 -- cancelled several days beforehand because of wet salt. Towed to El Mirage from NorCal -- almost as far as Bonneville -- got in one run.

Got knocked out for '94, getting the wave off the night before we were ready to leave. Towed to El Mirage again, for one run!

Made it all the way to the Salt in '95, set a record and bumped it up twice more during the week, and it stood for eight years before someone knocked it off on a great salt year. How wonderful it all was, the no-run years as well as the wonderful record-setting year and those in which others took a shot at what we'd done.

It's LSR racing and it's the best use of gearhead energy that's been found so far!

  8. VERY nice; that's a helluva banger. That is a single stick HAL?

What's the water pump off of?

    Mike,

You're absolutely right..... It's about everything..... the years of building..... the years of bench racing..... the years of research, not so much the 2 min. run. And to tell you the truth..... now that the news has sunk in, .. It doesn't really matter.... the deadline is what made us cram and finally get it finished. And that's the most important,.......finishing.

The water pump is a heavily modified sprint car pump. Similar to the Speedway motors pump.

Called Elmo-Wayno-Rodge this morning, from his house here in T.C. and I was making sure that it was all safe, he informed me of the storm that happened yesterday= Bummer Bobby! The BMR guys were all set to go as well as Wayno who moved to Utah just to be close to the salt=3-4hrs away and while he had a good time during speedweek, he reminded me that the meet last month was a wet one & last years WOS was also a rainout.
Oh well, There's always El Mirage!
Bobby Good luck with the break-in, the tank looks great! I hope to get ours done sometime this decade so we can go play in the white & brown stuff too!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear, but at least your ready to load it next time around.

For us non LSR guys. What is that "V" coming off the Quicky? The tubes that come straight back from the quickchange to that orb, then that short piece with some sort of fitting. What does that do or what is it?

That is for the push bar. The rest of the push bar goes into the end and out of the tank.....Lucky

Damn that is one cool bellytank. Sucks about Bonneville being rained out, but it will be just as cool to run that at El Mirage.

I've got a question. With as much engineering as the car has is it, why aren't you using and equal length tuned header? Just curious.

It's a blown engine. You don't need tuned exhaust, the blower handles that part.

go to scta/bni website and do some research. Buy your self a rule book. It will tell you most everything you need to know.

    Kurt,
I'm running gas right now. I could if I wanted to add a litro nitro, and run in the fuel class, but I'll wait and see how she does with gas first. And we dialed the boost in around 2 pounds, just to make her breathe a little better. We can go as much as 4 pounds with that little blower.
Definately get yourself a rulebook from Scta and read everything. You'll figure everything out.

    Thanks Django.

Ryan, There is hole in the body just under the rear flange that the push bar goes through. It registers in that rear tube and is held in by a quick pin. (More aircraft surplus) In fact that whole triangulated unit is quick pin'd in and can be removed. The steel ball was just something I had laying around, and was perfect for welding four pieces of tubing to.

The R&R book says "All new cars/drivers/riders or drivers/riders new to the car/course, may be required to make runs at less than full throttle or less than full course length, as determined by the Contest Board."

It's reasonable to assume that the stewards will apply this to a new car with a "scratchbuilt" chassis, particularly if it appears to have the potential for speeds above 130-140 mph. It's no big deal, there's no shame attached to making rookie runs, and it's done for your safety.

I have an old '04 R&R book I'll send you if you PM me your snail-mail address. It will answer most of your questions.

    Mike
