Hey, I bought a 1934 Ford Flathead V8 today, looks pretty good. It's soaking in some Marvals Mystery oil and transmission fluid. Anyway the story goes like this. 1934 Ford car stored in a building for 30+ years. Complete car, the body went to one guy, the frame went to antoher guy and the front and rear axles and the engine and transmission went to me. Original engine with matching numbers to the frame. So to my question, what is the box with the arrows pointing to it. It looks like some heater thing, i think it said Auto-Lite on the side of it. It's only on one side, I have a few flatheads but none this old, i have never seen one of these things before.
That's exactly what it is. Your motor looks like it is in great shape! I hope you get it turning over and it cranks off for you; I've heard lots of stories of flattys running after lots of years of sitting in hibernation. I have a '49 Merc that is currently soaking with Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders-- it's my first flatmotor.
