I believe this is an early Dodge Brothers vehicle. I can't see enough of it from the picture to know much about what it is but it reminds me of a car an old guy in my home town when I was a kid. As I remember it it was a 1917 Dodge Brothers touring car. It was a lot of fun to ride around town in, it had a reversed shift pattern the idea being that it had more leg room for the middle front seat p***enger which is where I sat.

This is on an auction that's about a 3 hour drive one way for me. I thought I could get my wife to go with me but she's less than excited about the idea. My brother told me I was asking the wrong person to go along. I told my wife that and she thought I should have asked him first but I haven't because he's usually working most Saturdays. I texted him all the information about it though.

I was just kind of toying with the idea of having an early body to put that Hemi engine in that I bought about a month ago.

Where is the auction at and will they let you go look at the car in advance?

Wow! Awesome video Squirrel! I was so enjoying watching it, brings back memories of my childhood.

I remember the front seat of the 1917 Dodge being a lot wider though but it's probably because I was smaller? I doubt they got much wider in 2 years this car sure reminds me of that one. I can't ever remember the top being folded down though.

My wife's hometown, Fonda Iowa. She knew who Ronda from Fonda was but if you know what I'm referring to you're not a youngster. About a 3 hour drive from my SW Iowa farm. I made the trip up there many times when my Mother-in-law was still living. Haven't been up there much since she p***ed away.

I'm probably not going to venture up there to preview anything anyway, I might think about it if I put my gas sipping 2001 Saturn back together but since I only have the gas guzzling pickups to drive I'll try to make it a one trip deal. Probably should drive the Super Duty pulling the flatbed up, 11 mpg adds up the fuel cost pretty quickly.

Sure looks DB. Is it a roadster or touring, 2 or 4 doors? If you give me the serial number I can tell you what year. How much of it is there?

And the grill emblem matches your Avatar:).
    That’s what tipped me off.

Rad badge looks like Dodge, hard to see detail on my screen. Radiator looks later than '17. Off the cuff, I'd guess '19-'21. Bodies are a bit more smoothed-out than '15(?)-'17. Thinking the really nice hi-crowned fenders are the same '19-'21 era.

If the front is a bit messed up, it may be from Bedford Falls.

The grille shell, cowl, both windshield frames, fenders and head light are all DB. Mine was a '25, the fella I bought it from also had a '17-'21 or so touring, I'd say that's what that one is. Go get it, no wood in them bodies to mess with. Mitch

It'll be interesting to see what it brings. Kind of getting cold feet on buying too many more things right now. I've spent quite a bit this last month helping my son and daughter-in-law out since they suffered an unexpected financial setback. It happens, I know that it seemed like every time my wife had I thought we had a handle on everything and things were going smoothly for us something would happen to throw a wrench in the works. I found out last night that my brother's wife is having trouble p***ing her DOT physical so I feel I might have to think about helping them out if the worst happens, they team drive so that physical could throw a real obstacle in their life and they have certainly went way out of their way to help us out in the past so it's possibly time to give them some well deserved payback. I sure wouldn't inconvenience myself to help out my sisters but my brother and his wife deserve all the support I can give them so it might be a good time to not jump into anything else absolutely neccessary.

I've been through failing the DOT physical and being forced to retire from trucking, it really set me back financially a little over 7 years ago. I'm finally back on firm ground but it took quite a while. I really wasn't planning on retiring at 60 years old so I know how big of a blow that is on people. My brother, his wife and my mom gave us a lot of support we needed through that tough time. Mom p***ed away November 26, 2022 so mom can't be here to help but I'm going to.

That is really going to be worth making an effort to attend just to see what's buried in those piles of treasure! I'm wondering exactly where all that stuff is located. My wife and I've been married 36 years this spring so I got well acquainted with Fonda since she grew up there.

Much of the old interesting stuff I had located in the area has disappeared over the years.

  17. I just googled auto auction Fonda and it came up at once. 6th April , my wifes birthday so i,m going :oops::D, NOT.
Fuel bill would kill me o_O or otherwise the missus. @crashfarmer , by the time the auction is finished you would be lucky to get a complete car out and loaded before dark. Loads of neat stuff there. How about those T and A  bodies stacked behind the T truck .
