Hi, I have just purchased a 1956 Ford speedometer cable, but I think I did it wrong and need some help on that. As I have an AOD speedometer in my 1956 Ford Victoria I need to buy a compatible speedometer cable, the one that I purchased below is just a reproduction of the original cable. https://www.ebay.com/itm/201590937378 So I guess this does not fit my AOD ******, am I correct, if so which cable should I purchase, I really need some help here. I also need to determine the speedometer gear, how do I calculate it ?
I installed an AOD in my '54 Ranch Wagon. Rusty at Speedometer service in Colorado made a cable for me. Excellent service, fair price, and fast turn around. And he is an Alliance vendor. @e1956v Speedometer, Generator And Alternator Repair In Colorado Springs (speedoservice.com)
I have also found this speedometer cable, do you think this will serve my purpose https://www.ebay.com/itm/226032766370
The trans end of the cable you mentioned firstwas last used in 56. In 57, the trans end like you showed later on was the one used starting in 57. Weather it fits the AOD I am not sure,
This is the one I have in mine. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2044852143.../A7me9B32/87t9WfGpQ/d3NhSA==|tkp:BFBMstey-dFj
Thanks this really helps me out. By the way I also I also need a speedometer gear for my AOD. The tire size: 215/70-15 Ring and Pinion Ratio: 3.89:1 The only thing that I do not know is the exact tooth count on the inside gear but I know that it is either 7 or 8
I have a '54 with original speedo and an AOD out of a '93 Mustang. I'm using the Mustang's original speedo cable. It inserts right into the square pin inside the speedo. There're threads on the speedo but none on the cable end so, I just secured it with a small hose clamp. Not going anywhere! The cable is about 6" too long but that's just taken up by a half loop underneath the car.
