Such respect for all of you there considering all that you have to go through with the gov. just to get these great cars on the road.

Usually a few there, a good range of all sorts of things but the focus is traditional style hot rods and drag cars. Was cool to have a start up of Baloo now owned by Mal Turner from the Scroungers.

Still not as bad as Australia for getting our cars on the road. We can drive them anywhere, anytime and without fenders, without Johnny Law h***ling us.

    .
IMHO, the best traditional hot rod show in the north island. You wont see any fuzzy dice or poodle skirts there, not like another event that happens around the same time. Do yourself a favor and go next time. Cheers

At a guess i'd say some haven't. For the small amount of time they get used some folk just decide to just risk it and take the easy route.

They have an auction at the event to help raise money to host it. People donate things to be auctioned off. This year I did the big boy hood beside her which raised a couple hundred dollars.

    Hi guys,
Are there any plans for a 2025 event, the other half and I would like to have another NZ holiday early next year and obviously this event would be on the top of our list.
We need to plan a schedule very soon so any details will be gratefully appreciated.
    Thanking you.

It is usually the Sunday of Beach Hop weekend, which next year is Sunday 30th April. It didn’t go ahead for a couple of times a few years ago but seems to have been steady the last couple of years in terms of the blow out going ahead.

Will see if I can find out for sure and keep you posted

Thanks for that, JETSTAR have a special deal on for that period but it finishes up tomorrow ...... consequently the urgency.

You guys sure have quite the car culture. Where do you find those cars in such a small country?

A lot of them came into the country as new cars way back in the day. But I guess the majority have been imported over the years.

Certainly don’t find them as barn finds (well maybe only the odd one on a very rare occasion) like you folk seem to do in the USA.

Part of the fun/challenge is finding the cars and parts when they are pretty rare here

This year's pics taken from FB were from early in the day as it got packed later in the morning. I have said it before, but this would have to be the best event in the North Island imho. Cheers

IMG_5731.jpeg IMG_5730.jpeg Fantastic show , well not really as such , caught up with a whole bunch of people. It’s more a gathering of like minded hot rodders , enjoying back to basics. Really relaxing. A chance to get to see a lot of very cool cars with no frills. We head off around midday, home by 8pm .
