It's been lurking in the corner for a few years, my son keeps asking when we'll start on it. I keep saying "maybe in the winter" since we stay pretty busy racing the other 8 months of the year (SEGA). Enough procrastinating, we dug it out and he couldn't be happier to be working on it finally. We're going to blow it all apart and start with rust repair - body isn't too bad, but the floor is essentially gone. Already have a parts list lined up for EMS. Frame seems decent so far from what we can see. Plan is for a simple cheap build, like a 60's hot rod that was forgotten about. For cost & convenience sake, planning to run a chev 327 & muncie M20 combo. I've placed him in the lead mechanic position, I'm just helping him out when he hits a snag. He already knows how to drill, cut, spot weld, and sandblast so he'll just be gaining experience. Here's a pic from Saturday. Will be adding more pics as we make progress.

Good to get and keep the young ones involved. Looks like he’s got his work cut out for him, but he’s got a good helper.

A good friend of mine built this in the late 50's early 60's. Just posting for inspiration. Looking forward to your son's progress. Bill

Let him know I’ll be in for a couple of weekends when needed. Looking forward to this one.

Sounds like a lot of fun for both of you!

Having put a Muncie in a 40 tudor (basically the same frame as your 35), I’d recommend a T-5 with an S-10 tailhousing on it. Lots less butchering of the X member, and the shifter will be in a better position.

We cleaned out the inside and removed the hood, fenders, etc. Not much floor left, or rockers, but we'll take care of that.

Will need a trunk latch (second photo) which I'm sure will be hard to find, also need to decide if I want to fill the roof or figure how to go back with the original deal.
