Has anyone out there applied for and received a ***le for an antique motor vehicle from M***achusetts recently?
If you're buying from a dealer, get them to do it. If buying from an individual, start here: https://www.m***.gov/how-to/apply-f...le-for-a-vehicle-purchased-from-an-individual. Whatever advice you get from us, you'll still need t contact the DMV. Another place to start would be your friendly neighborhood AAA office or even a ***le/notary service.
Ted, Not very complicated. If it's a MA vehicle already it should have a ***le (everything in MA is ***led) if is from out of state. Then a bill of sale, RMV-1 form and possibly a vin verification form, go to the DMV or your insurance company. Easiest if the out of state vehicle also has an old registration with it or ideally a ***le. If it's in MA without either it's a little more complicated. The person who owns it in MA is supposed to have ***led it (really what they want is for them or you to pay sales tax) You can ***le without registering the vehicle. Don't go into the DMV with a bill of sale that is date more than a week or 2 from the date you try to ***le it. MA law (90d-4) requires you to ***le any vehicle you purchase withing 10 days. (again they want their sales tax, because they don't care if you insure or register it) so make sure you have a recent bill of sale. Because they (DMV) can charge you a penalty for the delay.
