Thanks fellas... Silly shit, but fun... The base is one multi-color print, the ceramic is another, and then there's the tip and the ring around ceramic... So, four total. Not planning on it. Just farting around really....
It would be a pretty boring video... Just printing and assembling... and then my dumb ass trying to figure out wiring with a self built LED array and controller.
Wow, that looks really good. As a kid my dad always had the Champion spark plug radio on the shelf from my grandfather’s service station. Champion must have been big on swag. My grandfather basement had Champion light switch covers.
I collect automotive advertising, both vintage and repro. I'd definitely pony up for one of your finished products.
So cool. I understand it. I have all types of silly car/Hot Wheels related stuff in my basement and garage. It makes me happy just to look at them.
I remember an Uncle who said, “Champions belong in lawn mowers and MoPars, not Fords and Chevys!”. I love the old display stuff like that. So much got tossed as it aged or was replaced by the next new thing.
Insomnia... So, I've decided to scrap the original model that I downloaded and remodel the entire thing based off an original Champion plug. Once I have the basic shapes right, I will start to add details...
Very Kool Maybe a fan flame type electrode on the spark plug instead of the traditional finger type .
Here's the revision I worked on a bit this week... Base is the same, but I did some work on the ceramic... This one is about twice as big as my first efforts. Damn near 24" tall.
I have two 3D printers. Both are sort of top of the line depending on what you are looking for: 1. Bambu X1 Carbon. These guys changed the 3D printing game a coupe of years ago. Essentially, this is a core XY machine that is fully enclosed. It is plug and play and dead simple. However, if you do have issues their support is terrible. Bambu is a Chinese company and the printer uses their cloud. If you are sensitive about privacy, this could be a concern. $1000 to $1500 depending on the model you get... For a first timer, I'd suggest the P1S. The Bambu is a Lambo... Gorgeous, fast, easy... until it isn't because support sucks. 2. Prusa MK4. This is a last generation printed that Prusa hot rodded to be almost as fast as the Bambu X1. It's not enclosed and is not as streamlined to use... However, it's built like a tank and Prusa support is amazing. Print quality is every bit as good as the Bambu. This is a Toyota. Nothing fancy. Nothing Extra. Will work forever. $1000 or so...
is the finished surface as smooth as it looks in the pictures? those pieces look fantastic edit: the more I see, the more I want.. "..oh yes, one day you will be mine.."
