Probably run caps and rings on one side while I try to figure out a color scheme. I picked up a 1926-27 Coupe body that is really rough and has a poorly done chop to it. I will start working on the body (Howell's panels) and blow the whole car apart this fall so it will be back up by the spring of 2014. Mechanically it will stay the same, but it will get a new dash, seats, grille and exhaust. Though nearly everything will get m***aged in one way or another!

I'll be there again this year, hopefully without all the fires raging this time though. Damn those radials are terrible!

LOVE your Column Shift! Nice how that fit down below (shift rods/pedal clearance)

Very nice story, neat little rig. Future looks bright. Full speed ahead!

I found a crack in the frame under the wishbone mount. Need to weld that up and start re engineering everything in my head to be prepared for the body swap as well as lowering it considerably. Will also step box the frame to add some rigidity.

haven't done anything lately and it has been blocked in since my DD's trans came out (note to self, park projects other than behind the T). Trans should be back in this week, then weld up the frame and start driving again!

The car has been running rougher an richer lately so I pulled the carbs for a rebuild. Put it all back together and it runs worse. New plugs and even worse. Going to order new wires as holding #8 wire cures one miss. Any flathead gurus in portland up for helping me out with a little time and knowledge? I may start a separate thread with that request. Otherwise polishing some old beauty rings and the only pair of 1948 caps that made it off the farm. With a baby on the way I am not sure if the body swap will happen this winter or be pushed out a year.

I have not posted in a long time! Well baby prep has put a damper on projects. Still have not gotten anywhere with getting it to run better but that will be on the docket for the spring. Body swap will be a future project, this summer will be just driving when I have time (though the baby will eat up lots of that!). Also started buying stuff to build a pedal car into a g***er stroller.

Hey man, when the weather breaks (probably around July), limp that thing over to the house and we'll rip in to it. I don't know **** about flatheads, but the beer is cold!

Not really an update on the car but my wife delivered our first child, a boy we named Anderson, yesterday! I am very proud of our little family and look forward to completing the g***er stroller build, finishing up the T and building a family sized custom car.

Finally got to rolling the T out of the garage and took some pictures with my three month old son, Anderson. Also threw on some caps and rings from the donor car that gave its trans and rear to the project back when it was built. Running really rich, seems to have a miss and in general is not happy. Working to get it ironed out for car show season, especially since I want to make it to Chehalis Billetproof and the East to West Flathead meet in Washington. anderson driving.jpg web-027.jpg

Put a new cap, rotor and wires last night. Also found one of the adjustable accelerator rods was jumping off its dog leg. With those things done it is running way better! 30 min cruise last night felt great after being dormant for the last 9 months! Gotta have it road trip worthy by the WA flathead run!

To be honest the new format has kept me at bay for quite a while. Went from being on here a few hours a day to maybe a few minutes a month. But the website isn't going to go back to the old version so it is probably time to **** it up and figure out how to use it the way it was intended. As said in some other posts, this is still the greatest place for this kind of information and community.

In other news I have been driving the T a ton lately and even been out on the highway a few times, building up confidence for the East West Flathead run. Need to run through the whole car and give it the once over before I go though. Hoping to find a good body for a good price at the fall or spring Portland Swap Meets so I can start planning to blow the whole car apart for a rebuild.

001.JPG Well it has been a while, but I am both getting the car ready for the season as well as preparing for the next phase. I just picked up an overdrive trans off Craigslist. I have been doing research here, and everywhere else, about where to get a governor/relay/***ociated other equipment to get things set up. All of this is in preparation for my 40th birthday plans the summer of '18 where I plan to drive from Portland down to West Coast Customs my birthday weekend. Hoping the Portland swap meet will net me some more parts and a 26/27 Coupe body. The plan is the end of this season (Fall 2016) to blow the car apart and rebuild the ch***is to fit the new body, shorten the wheel base, lower all the way around. That is a brief discussion as it will affect every single aspect of the car other than the tires.

Oh and my phone filled up to max capacity so the only shot is one with my two year old in it as he was "helping" around the shop!

I noticed in my lapse of posting that I hadn't mentioned that I sold the T coupe body I brought back from ND. It was too rough and needed patch panels that can't be bought. I am on the lookout for a new body in better condition and with a ***le. My plan is to reuse the current fibergl*** body for a street legal HAMB dragster, even thought it will make it heavy at least I can reuse a lot of my grandpa's parts.

With all of that said, my rebuild plan includes the new trans, the aforementioned new body, go through the current motor, open drive conversion on the rear end, have one of the guys off the HAMB drop one of the extra axles we have laying around, swap the alternator for an offset generator (may necessitate going to early heads to wrap the radiator piping), make a more vintage looking full flow oil filter setup, box the frame (and spread it to match the perimeter of the new body, similar to Anderson's T build), narrow the 1948 Ford dash that most of the car parts came out of (with rebuilt gauges and the clock converted into a tach), custom seats (with some actual foam!), new wiring, 1948 tail lights, Guide headlights, 1932 grille shell and a new radiator. So just changing a little bit......

004.JPG In my search for a generator I found one on craigslist and for hardly any more money the guy threw in the complete drive train from a 1950 ford. The 67k actual mileage stuff was from his grandpa's car that he swapped everything of. All of these parts will go into the HA/GR build (that will get its own build thread). I really liked the 226 in my old 1950 Ford and though small, we can always build up a 254 later if we somehow actually get compe***ive.

It has been quite a while but with some motivation and spare dollars effort has begun again. I have always hated the alternator and Speedway had a good deal on a PowerGen so one just arrived. In looking at the alternator I cannot believe how far off of square it was so that will be a welcomed headache taken out of the equation. More parts are headed my way and thus more forward progress is hopeful as well. No boring details until there is actual proof of jobs getting done. IMG_8648.JPEG IMG_8649.JPEG IMG_8650.JPEG

So with some measurements I thought the stock powergen would work. Of course it does not and touches the front carb. Likely a cut off wheel is in its future to get a shorter body as much of the back is free air. Always something with hot rod builds! Also notice how bent the old alternator mount was. Glad that is gone. Oh and the wiring is not long enough to reach the pole on the back of the gen/alternator but maybe if it is shorter it will reach. Back after this to try to get it mobile again. Started off with an oil change and replacing the rear wheel cylinders. It was running overly rich and part of the reason it was parked. Pulled the heads and they were full of carbon, also found .080 over pistons that all look to have kissed sparkplugs previously. Tired of repeatedly rebuilding the 94s I am going to try some chinese Repops to see if I have any better luck. Found some scoring in a cylinder or two so will drop the pan to check a rod and main bearing just in case so fingers crossed there. Also a random bolt head fell on the ground after I pulled a head so not sure where that came from. I have a full gasket set and some new fuel pressure parts to hopefully help with the richness. Will try and adjust lifters as well as look at timing when it goes back together. Since it has the truck oil pan with the large cleanout and the oil plug copper washer were hammered, both are in the mail. Also going to be on the lookout for tappet wrenches at the Portland Swap Meet. Had the radiator pressure tested at Mac's here in PDX, but it has a leak and they want enough to fix the copper Walker that I may go with a chopped 32 rad that fits in a chopped 32 shell instead of the bemouth that was on it up till now. If the motor ends up having to come out or god forbid has to go to the machine shop it may final get an Over Drive transmission that has been patiently waiting. Preferably it can just be ****oned back up so I can start driving it again.

Hit a little bit of a snag in that i cannot find the right drain plug gasket. Also spent some time cleaning the heads.
