If you were to buy a new headliner for a 52 two door customline what brand would you use? The only quality shop near me wants to make it by hand at the tune of 2500 bucks or so.
Automotive Interiors in M***achusetts. Many choices, good quality and service, at least 12 years ago when I did mine. I just checked their website.350. ish. Mine is a synthetic that looks/feels like brushed cotton. You can do it !!! www.automotiveinteriors.com
No I had a shop do mine in vinyl with a very subtle pattern used by BMW. My son bought a vinyl one in black for his 40 Chevrolet coupe and had an upholstery shop put it in and do custom carpeting.
You might try Jim Urg**** at Quality Auto Carpet in Chicago QAC (qualityautocarpet.com) 773-622-7404 I emailed him about a headliner and carpet for my '54 Ranch Wagon. He called my several times and left messages since we were playing phone tag. When I finally got to talk to him he was very helpful even though I told him it would be months before I would be ready to buy either. He sounded like he knew what he was talking about and he did send me samples with prices for different fabric types. But I've never found anyone who purchased any product from him. Might be worth getting in touch with him. Up to you.
They are a lot less here in Phoenix as we have a lot of Hispanic Shops that are into Customs, but all shops will also want to schedule a Gl*** shop to R&R the rear gl*** when they do the headliner as per the Ford Shop Manual. There is a huge amount of videos on installing bow type headliners on Youtube, this is a good example of what is involved.
I paid around $400 for the one in my wagon. I got it from SMS Auto Fabrics and it was a perfect match. The included enough material to cover my sun visors too.
yes they do. Maybe check with concours parts. I think I took a phot of mine to have in case I lose them. You can bend some up out of wire.
I maybe should have added that their purpose is to keep the bows positioned in the correct spot when the headliner is tugged on during installation. Without those wires, you could constantly move the bows everytime you pulled on the fabric. If making replacements, I wouldn't think the dimension would be super critical........eyeballing a good seam location for me would be close enough.
Besides sms they are all made by the same company in California. It's the same one no matter who you buy it from
