I have what turns out to be a disc brake kit for Mustang 2 spindles: 11” Granada rotors (I believe) Chassis engineering bracket for Mustang 2 spindles Ford 0288 calipers which are Mustang 2/Pinto I have searched unsuccessfully for anyone with a kit for the 1937-1941 spindle that utilizes the Granada rotor and the Mustang 2 caliper. Just would need to get the bracket and bearings/ bearing adaptor. Anyone know of a kit using these components? Or should I sell this whole setup to the Mustang 2 crowd?
Well, what bolt pattern do you want? 5x5.5 early Ford? Or 5x4.5 that most likely those Granada rotors are? I'd want the early Ford BP so I could run Early Ford wheels. I found this kit, says it fits a 37-41 spindle, but it has GM components. Might just call speedway or Heidts and ask. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Economy-Bolt-On-Front-Rear-Brake-Kit-for-Ford-Spindle,25115.html
Right, the kits I am finding are all GM metric. I am looking for one utilizing the Granada and MII caliper to put a 4-1/2” BP on a 1940 spindle.
This is the NARROW kit that several are waiting for: https://www.roadstersupply.com/Narrowed-Econo-GM-Hot-Rod-Brake-Kit-p/rsc-40108.htm More info here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/narrow-front-disc-brake-kit.1310163/#post-15133019 It helps keep the tires tucked in, so they don't rub 40 Ford fenders.
Yeah I think that might be just for MII. Look at this kit. This doesn't look to be GM stuff, as the rotors are 11.75". https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Complete-Disc-Brake-Kit-1937-48-Ford-5-on-5-1-2-BC,1997.html
Here's another rodders experience with 40 Ford: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/i-think-i-went-too-low…40-ford-5-window.1312112/
Thanks guys, looks like I’ll put this setup up for sale. Thanks for all of the info on the kits that push out the wheels too far.
