Anyone know who made this fiberglass Ford headlight front end for 37 Chevy and can you tell if this is a 39 or 40 Ford headlight
Those look like 37-39 standard to me. I’ve never seen that front end treatment before, you sure that isn’t a custom glass job?
1939 was last year of headlight bulbs, 1940 was first year of sealed beam headlights. https://blog.headlightrevolution.com/blast-from-the-past-sealed-beam-headlamps-history That said, if the whole thing is a fiberglass conversion kit it probably is 'like' a 39 or 40, but doesn't directly interchange. Sorry you are getting into it. Here are some pics. 1939 https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1939-ford-headlight-rings-wanted.1286817/ 1940 https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1940-ford-headlight-buckets-and-ring.1194290/ Seems like these are not 40 with the additional 'stuff' on the top.
they look like ones i brought years ago, they were hagan 37-39 ford . someone like a year ago had some listed here for $100 if i remember correctly.
Hagan Brand 1937-39 Ford Fiberglass Headlight Buckets New $100.00 plus $20.00 shipping 216-406-6301 these were posted by hotrodhoodlum in 2022. this is the same set i had.
So, it looks like the buckets have been identified. It seems, to eliminate the tire/bucket interference; 1. modify back of bucket, or 2. Run a smaller diameter tire, or 3. Raise front suspension, so bucket is above interference area. Other ideas?
Well, 37 Chevys never had headlights in that location so there’s that. Hard to know if a stock Ford bucket would fix the problem.
The power of the HAMB!!! I shiver to say it, but modern LED lights are less deep. It ain't kosher here, but if the guy that's tasked @Jamoke to fix is this deep, that might be the quickest, cheapest solution. I hate 'em, but are ya going to go back to stock?
