Nice ride, I like the gmc better than the Chevy version and the tailgate better than barn doors. Will it be heading to St. Paul this summer?

First thing underhood would be some plug wires….looks like a couple of those are stretched to the limit!
I like the Corvette/Vega GT steering wheel, but a mid 60’s Chevelle or Impala might look better. I’ve always liked the GMC dash better with the round gauges like that, but I prefer the single headlight 64-65 Chevy truck grilles.
Add a Vintage Air unit and have a comfortable cruiser for all seasons.

Great truck! Wish I had one instead of my 97. Here’s one (Chev) belonging to a fellow club member.

    Ahhhh weekend is here......:)
    Saturday morning to the shop.
Time to Gunk spray everything / long handle scrub brush / high pressure spray soap-rinse, carb clean-adjust, organize wires/ hoses under the hood/ engine compartment. Measure - figure out a fan shroud. Fuse check. 62 Burb Engine.jpg

Personally I think it is perfect as is. .... A little soap and water never hurt anyone.
I would be concerned with a fan shroud .... If it is a problem.
Funny how so many of these old buggies did not have shrouds and worked fine.

As far as washing all that patina off .... you cant ever get that back! ..... Drive it!

    Thanks.
I'm not going to change much outside or inside.
Some soap and water is basically it.
Just get years of oil coat off the engine, clean up/ route the wires/ hoses etc./Air cleaner base with the valve cover vent hose filter. / Carb vacuum lines - vacuum caps etc. etc.
I haven't had it long enough or driven it ( All of 50 feet from trailer to shop ).
So, concerning the fan/temp/if a shroud is needed don't know yet. Just on the list to look into.
Tires are thin, so may change wheels temporarily until I can get new skins which if you haven't checked in a while - tires have gone up $$$$. Hell, I have spares of wheels and tires in the shop, so we'll see what works.

  15. Hey Cobb, your clutch fan will work much better with a shroud. I kinda doubt it was factory, but I’d leave it on if it works. Can you source a reproduction shroud?

Always wanted one of those (or even one of the 67-72 variety). Six cylinder, 3 speed on the column would suit me just fine. Just cruise around with the kids. Room for softball stuff, parts, groceries....etc.

Under the hood reminds me a lot of the Saturday afternoon thrash to get to the races...just make it work, we'll clean it up later. Looks like later is here, Good Luck.

Yea just got it last Sunday - 100 plus miles up in my crew cab dually in cold hard driving rain with 30-40 MPH cross winds.

I loaded it in hard driving rain, turned right back around and came back in 100 plus miles of cold hard driving rain and 30-40 MPH cross winds the other way.

Did I say cold hard driving rain ?
Soaked to the bone and still paying for it this week.

Backed it off the trailer and straight 50 feet into my shop and hauled *** to Uhaul to drop off the trailer before it closed at 5 PM.

So tomorrow it's hose her down and organize some wires/ hoses / Carb adjust etc.

    This, to me is relaxing.......:)
( world away from Corporate stress )

Sorry you had to not only make the trip alone, but had to rent a U-haul. I would have gladly pulled my trailer up and let you get out in the cold hard driving rain to load your truck and then repeat as necessary once back at your shop.. It's a nice find and look forward to seeing it and you around.
