The Larson Engineering valve covers are definitely NOT traditional rod or custom material. Hopefully that is why you are here at the HAMB though.

They were somewhat popular in the early 1980's and were somewhat functional as you could pull the separate top off and adjust valves with the engine running.

The only other advantage other than that was that they sort of gave a big block look to a small block engine, but they were really tall and large and didn't fit easily in some engine compartments.

I have a set that I won at the Car Craft Nationals back around 1983 or so. I thought they were cool at the time, but they have been hanging on the wall for almost 30 years and have never made it on a car...

Not especially rare, but not too many out there either. You see a set on that auction site once in awhile.

If you are truly interested in a traditional style rod or custom... SELL EM.

I would be interested in purchasing these valve covers. How can I get in contact with you to work out the details?
    Thanks.

L****n covers (Sold in the mid 1970's) are a HELL of a lot cooler than a lot of the "traditional" (aka reproduction or later model) valve covers I see people running here on the HAMB...

I have a set on my 32 5 Window. Traditional...no; Cool...I think so. Mine have the Ford Logo.

I saw polished repops at Nats North a couple years ago. Asking price was $1000 a set. I have seen a few original sets at swap meets where the asking price was $650 - $1150 a set depending on the condition. I have attended car shows for 30 years and I have probably seen a dozen sets on cars in that time, so they are somewhat rare. They definately are a great conversation piece at car shows. Good Luck.

I have a set of Larson valve covers, currently listed on ebay, do a search. They don't fit my flatheadford nor my Packard. Maybe I can buy something useful.

Are these the same valve covers that went on the old orange blossom special 37' chevy pulling truck? I always wondered who made them.

As of 4/12/2024 here are two sets for sale on feeBay.
Prices seem to have gone up. ;)
As for "Making an engine look like something it is not" just what are they faking?
Not really a big block, or Hemi.
Not even an LS disguised as a real Chevy.

Perhaps confirming how rare they are?
Perusing other threads here and on the 'Net at large, they were clearly made in more than one style and several finishes.
Ford is even more rare than the five Chevy versions I have found pics of.
Seems they were also semi hand made too.
70's or not you have to give some appreciation to the effort.
If they really can fetch $3,200 a set now some of you guys are in the gravy.

Worrying about how rare some goofy billet style parts are? Ridiculous.

Now, if we could just discuss a truly cool rare part I’d be glad: anyone have a set of the fake injector stacks that will fit over my quadrajet?

I believe they were all cast aluminum, just because things are aluminum and shiny doesn't mean they're billet
