IMG_0254.png Anyone recognize this guy? My buddy who follows him linked me some parts I was looking for that this dude was selling. Face value he seemed legit but I may not have done enough poking around before shelling out the cash… I looked him up on FB and thats when I got the sinking feeling… Not sure if someone jacked his profile but I’m fairly certain I F!CkT myself..
I laid out just over $1000 for the parts; ohh man…

EDIT: if you are local to this guy, I'd bet a number of people would reward you for 'visiting' him or at least gathering as much info as possible to provide to law enforcement. BTW, this is your first post. You should post an introduction and it helps if you have a location.

Looks like there's plenty of nice parts there. Except they belong to other people.

So, how did you send the money to him ? That's where you need to start tracking him down. Even if you just mailed cash to an address, somewhere along the line there has to be a clue where the money went and possibly who really received it. If an address is all you have, then get one of those "find someone" accounts and see who lives at that address. Use Google Maps to see the place and also find out who the neighbors are. Contact the neighbors and while not actually accusing anyone, ask if they know what kind of people they are. When you find who lives there it will also provide you with names of relatives of that person. Ex-wifes are usually willing to help. You can get their phone number(s) and maybe find them on Facebook. Then without accusing directly you can ask embarrassing questions and put pressure on them. If you are able to get anything from those sources you can package it and turn it over to local authorities. They tend to follow up better when its handed to them in a nice little package.
I had a guy tell me to send money to "his boy" (which I took to mean it was his son) because he had a Paypal account. I thought when I did the transaction I sent the money via Paypal like always. Never had this happen before, but somehow it went thru MetaPay which I had never used before. They charged me a fee for the transaction and I thought that was by Paypal. Didn't find out till later about the glitch.....Anyway the guy I sent the money to was not his son, not even related, and had already died. The "find someone" proved to be a wealth of info as I narrowed things down. Apparently the guy had owned a car lot and had access to a lot of peoples info because they bought cars from him.
Anyway he was arraigned earlier this year. He tried to keep the scams below a certain amount so he could avoid prosecution. His mistake was not knowing that he could be charged with a felony based on the total he defrauded people of. In this case there were several, and the state police were able to get him on felony charges. Lots of discomfort and legal fees even if he gets off........and a few years in jail if he doesn't.

Edit: Update.....I just talked with the officer who helped me and he said the guy was arraigned in Feb and has been in jail ever since because no one will post bail for him, even his son refused. Also thinks his wife is divorcing him and he expects the guy is going back to prison for a while when it comes up. Going to do some checking and let me know since he has been off work with a health problem for the last month or so.

His name showed up on FB today.
He does have a good idea for parts, too bad he doesn't own the stuff he is selling.

A few years ago, an artist friend was looking for a scammer.
I managed to track down the scammers father, and siblings.
Artist calls father, who was very understanding and helpful.
Scammer was in JAIL, at the time.

Little tip, if you click on the about this account often found in the upper right hand corner it will tell you where the account it based and how many times they changed their name. A bunch of name changes and Cameron are big red flags.

99% of the time you can scroll and see that most of this stuff is in completely different locations than
    Each other

That is a good point Tim. I also click on the "seller details" when looking at Facebook ads. I often do that because if someone is offering something like a tool for sale, it will show if the seller has other tools that are for sale.....and then it will show a location for the seller as well. If you see the same seller/same ad...........BUT multiple locations...its a scam.

Ryan, if you can scorch the right earth, I'm for it. I know a lot of these scum are lone actors, but if they have any communication, it would be nice to have this place on the Don't Touch list.

Hey Yall - I am the original poster of those E&J headlights, and I am the true owner of them! That Instagram scammer took all my pics and info and began the push the scam onto the internet!! After going back and forth with Ryan, found out that the guy on Instagram is a total scammer!!

I then got banned for posting someone else’s photos which was so crazy because I took the pics in my garage and my headlights!

Here’s the headlight on my 30 in front of my barn.

    IMG_0512.jpeg

Be careful out there!! Headlights are still for sale - and they are in my hands! lol!!

Just let my wife get taken on home repairs. What?!! "You say you did"?
    She would not hear it.
Today she asks me for my view.
A station owner taught me years back,
"When they drive in, they are a suspect"
"When they ask for, and agree to repair service, they are a prospect"
"When they pay the bill, they are a customer"
    Sorry for your loss

whenever I see a profile and all the backgrounds in the images are different, I assume it's a scammer.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but always, always ALWAYS ask for more photos of the parts they claim to have with at least one posed with a note with the current date in the frame.

  27. Face value it looks like a scam.
    1. Every single photo has a different sort of background in it.
    2. People with tons of neat stuff typically don't sell said neat stuff.
Unfortunately, you aren't going to get a dime of your money back. Unless you paid with something like PayPal Good and Services, then you might have some recourse. Never send a PayPal "Friends and Family" unless you actually know the person. Don't use any similar digital transaction method (ie; Facebook Pay, Venmo, Zelle, etc) that doesn't specifically provide fraud protection. Don't send cash or personal check. Don't send a cashier's check. Maybe send a USPS money order, but don't expect the USPS OIG to actually investigate your case or ever get your money back.

Life’s too short to waste your time on it.
Heck, watch a good movie, peruse the HAMB, rotate your tires, etc;)
