Thanks man. I appreciate the offer. I had a trailer - never used it and took up space so I got rid of it. For what I need, the UHaul trailer worked/works fine. One man load/easy to tighten down/reasonable $ to rent.
Cool truck, I like it. Really digging the barefoot pedal. My uncle's high school ride in the 70s was a 52 F1. It had a pedal like that. It was the first one I had ever saw and I thought it was so cool!!
Ok - took a first drive. Runs good, comfy and quite surprised how quiet it is going down the road. Has headers so a nice dual sound. Thought I had a new box of plug wires but couldn’t find them at the shop. I’ve got them. I just have to remember where I put them. Carb is cleaner now with Carb spray / better but still a hair to adjust. After a good bath, windows inside and out, vacuum…… Enjoy here you go……. View attachment 6027241

Thanks man. The paint is very faded. Almost to the point it’s chalky, primer like. But it’s old enamel I’m thinking. Lots of chips / flake offs / bumps. I did Gunk the engine / engine bay. / but missed taking a pic of that. Oh well it’s an old stock 350 motor. A lot of oil coat is gone.
Came with some Jimmy Caps so I changed them from the no name Moons to the Jimmy caps to give it some color / pattern. I have three or four sets of other wheels as well as a bunch of different hubcaps, so I’ll experiment with them and see how they look. I’ve been known to change wheels and tires periodically to give it a different look. Appreciate opinion/ feedback.
Can you get those exhaust tips to move up/in any? Sticking way out, would look much better up closer. It cleaned up well, good to hear the engine and rest of drivetrain is in good order.
Thanks. Yep - that's on the list to do is take a cut off wheel / cut off the excess exhaust tips to bring it up closer to the rear fender bottom. Did a little gray out of the excess - you get the idea. Thanks for the feedback.
I really like the GMC hub caps! I love simple hubcaps on just about anything. If you are coming to Lloydfest this year, you could meet @atch and I in the St. Louis area and caravan with us. Hopefully Fargo57 will be with us!
Those GMC caps look like they belong, looks much better. When I bought my 66 it had S-10 hubcaps on it, couldn't get them off fast enough. The ones in my posted photo above were some 67 dog dish caps I had put away.
Getting to know her a little more with a Saturday 10 mile drive. Surprisingly comfortable. Cold start typical slight header gasket tat for a 1/4 mile until it warms up then quiet/ fine. Still haven’t got the low beams to turn on - even after the all new hi-low/ hi beam light bulbs and new dimmer switch. So for now it’s high beams only if I get caught in the evening but not planning to. Shortening the tail pipes next. They hang a bit low. Pulled into a Casey’s to take a leak and get a Pop and came out with 4 guys standing around it and a 20 minute conversation on the old girl/ old trucks. So funny the less than shiny cool old driver, the attention it gets. Ahhh old trucks, gotta love it.
Hey @corncobcoupe I can totally relate to how the older trucks, such as yours, get the attention, especially when such a rig isn't a show piece, but is just an honest old truck. A few years back, when I had this cool, older, 3 door Chevy Suburban. When younger kids, ( 20+ year old's ) would see it, they thought it was a fancy rig, I said, I bought it this way. They would say can we see the engine, which was a nice running, old stock 327, the previous owner had put chromed valve covers on and a fancy chromed air cleaner, which made it look nice. When I raised the hood to show them, I said, let me show you kids what is really cool about this engine compartment. They thought there was going to be something under the hood that was all hot rodded up, some kind of go fast equipment. Of course there wasn't. I said, do you all see what is so cool, right there before your very eyes? And they all totally missed it. They said what are we looking at ? I said, notice how there is only one fan belt that drives the alternator and the water pump, and the power steering pump, notice how you can actually trace the spark plug wires from the distributor, all the way down to the plugs, and notice how you can actually see the ground on both side's of the engine, and how you can actually see the starter, which isn't buried ! All of this went right over their young heads, and one of them said, "So whats so cool about that"? I just smiled and said, go look under the hood of your parents car, that is if you can find the hood release and also the safety latch, and see if you can identify any of the components, I just pointed out to you all, on my engine. As you stated. "Ahhh, old trucks, gotta love it" Thanks from Dennis.
Nothing quite like a cool old driver pickup. I sure miss being able to jump in my 66 C10 and run errands or whatever.

GMC caps are a little to modern looking to me as well as the GMC on the rear bumper. I like the stocker GMC caps: Or I had these on my '64 Panel truck: Full size
GMC on the rear bumper was the first thing to come off on day 2. I have lots of hub caps options to play with. Thanks for the feedback.
