Has anyone tried Rich Fox's idea of putting a Ford Y block head on a Plymouth PB 4 cylinder engine ?

I think Fox was doing that when going after a specific land speed record, I don't think anyone else would see the PB engine as being worth the squeeze. Nowadays, even built-up Ford B engines are seldom seen. I think we're already seeing the peak of interest and shops building flathead V8s.

  4. What kind of Plymouth 4 cylinder are we talking about?
I am totally unaware of this engine and I thought I knew everything old car lol
Edit: oh and I think the Ford flathead for being trendy is kind of on its way out but I do see a pretty big model A and B banger engine resurgence starting to happen.
It makes sense, model A engines are a dime a dozen and there is a relatively fair amount of performance for Model A and B engines available. They aren't fast by modern standards but they are way fun at a TROG type event or another way to look at it is they are just fast enough to be fun but they are just slow enough not to get you killed generally speaking. It's kind of like driving an mg midget.

I ask Rith why a Y block head instead of Winsor it was because of the EIIEEIIE valve lay out instead of EIEIEIEI of the 289

The Y block head bolt holes line up pretty well with the head bolt holes in the Plymouth

I spoke with Rich a few times, asked where/how he did things like that. “ see it, visualize it and get to work”. A very talented man.
