I will be installing a top hood to my roadster ( no side panels) does anyone know any good top hood only. Hardware kits for mounting it and keeping it shut nice and tight obviously. Most kits I find are for 3 piece folding traditional hoods. Any links or parts recomedation would be appreciated.. and happy Patriots day from us in Massachusetts

    I’m assuming it’s a model a?

either way do a search for hood straps or “running hood top only” there’s loads of threads on this topic.

in short the two most common answers are making a spring loaded dead bolt of sorts inside the stock hood. Hing loops were the rod used to go.

or using basically belts to tie it down.

a third option that I don’t see as much, if your using a stock hood and it’s got the center held down at the cowl and grill as stock I’ve seen people run a bunji or chain from side to side over the engine. One on front one on back

There should be a little loop or pocket on top of the cowl and on top of the radiator for the center hood hing rod to slide into.

IMG_3374.jpeg I would think it should exist in that dip in the front center of the cowl. If it’s not it’s not a fancy piece you could easily make something that would work fine.

first post that came up when I did a search. I glanced at it and seems to have all the recommendations that crop up when this is brought up so I’d think an answer would be found there :)

I made some L shaped hooks from some 1/8 brazing rod and attached some mono fishing line so they would pull on the side panel hinge loops. It works fine to 100 and possibly more. Cost nothing and has been fine with no maintenance for decades. The mono line is springy.

I have a center hold down on my 31 A roadster with the stock hold downs on the front of the hood to lock it on. It is a 32 hood modified to fit the A. The last pic shows it mounted. Simple to do.

I should have also mentioned I welded a piece of rod to the center of the hood to go into that receiver on the cowl.

If I understand you, there is no hinge. If you’re more specific I’d be happy to take some pics for you ;)
