I've seen some pretty kool kustoms ruined by a half assed interior. It's not that it wasn't finished, but it looked like they had an 80s parts car lying around and literally just smashed or cut everything to make it fit.

Hello, If it were 1957, only the guys that had lots of money and good paying jobs were able to afford a full tuck and roll upholstery. As we saw the upholstery in some of my older brother’s friends’ cars, we realized that custom upholstery was expensive and probably the last thing on our minds when trying to finish a hot rod or custom car. At the time, usually the upholstery was the one thing that most teenagers wanted to be pristine. The main idea was to be able to impress our “dates” when in high school. A ratty upholstery was not the most efficient or “winning hearts or points” sort of thing. So, most of the cars had nice upholstery. But, in our time, one older guy had enough money to do a complete white upholstery job and it was done in Bixby Knolls. The shop was the best around, but for most teenagers, it was a dream shop and not all cars had tuck and roll upholstery. This one teen had advantages and so he got the custom shop to do his 55 Chevy and since we all knew his family was wealthy, it was just a thing that happened. Here is the best recollection of a current car that fit the exact look of our friend’s green 1955 Chevy sedan back in our high school days. I can remember the contrast of the dark green color vs the all white tuck and roll upholstery. But, which green? (including that cool headliner.) Jnaki The pristine green 55 Chevy of our friend was similar in looks and the white upholstery just stood out for blocks with the green paint. It is the best example of the Chevy Sedans during our years as teenagers. I remember it was a Green Shade with White tuck and roll upholstery that was done in a Long Beach shop. The high school Chevy was pretty outstanding. I got to ride around in it several times and it was not the most powerful Chevy sedan, but it sure was shiny and “white” inside. The green candy paint was a good background for the all white tuck and roll upholstery. YRMV
