Started the 350 in the 49 Dodge...let it warm up.....oil pressure..Check.., Temperature...Check...Got a line on 60 gallon compressor... 2 phase wired and ready...Check

 

I've done big blocks back to back now, I built the last ones for the Henry J, next polishing job better be something easier lol



I do need to eventually get that single corvette (far left or right) polished and breather added to match my other, so I can get those back on the t-bucket since I have spacers now.



I broke one of these like a dumbass trying to fit it over roller rockers.

Now that the weather has warmed up some I’ve been working on the interior of my Plymouth coupe. Nothing fancy, just flat vinyl for the door panels. Home Depot indoor outdoor carpet. Covered up all the Dynamat and so quiet now I may have to add a stereo.

Thanks @DrJekyllMrHyde Couldn't believe I found a couple of them that cheap. I ordered an oil bath decal from a Studebaker to put on it as well. Should be here soon. I knew the look I was after, just had to keep my eyes open for something that would work & was cheap.

 

The finishing touch came in the mail today. $4 Studebaker decal off of eBay. This is the look I was going for. Hoping to run it on a SBC going into my '47 Fleetline.

 

I had the hood on my Olds chemically stripped and then I removed the oil can dent that has bothered me for decades. I also used the opportunity to add 70 style twist hood pins.
I am doing a final block sand on the Old's hood. Hopefully stick it back on the car over the weekend and shoot color over it and the top of the front fenders next week.

 

I was not so patiently waiting for the world’s slowest crew to come work on the shop. Everything from the original shop is squeezed into the new southern workspace while they work on the north storage addition. Roof and all the tin was taken off and we wait for them to finish the job. The only thing accomplished this week has been parking a trailer of tin in front of the shop. Too rainy, too windy, too lazy, or whatever the excuse for the day is. Meanwhile, I started sanding cabinets for the new workbench, Repurposed metal kitchen cabinets from the 50s and 60s. I usually make the tops out of 2x6s to make a solid top. If it gets too messy just sand and start again. I might try 5/8 deck boards this time. But today was lay it out and sand. Brought back fond memories of my grandfather who told me once the cabinets don’t need to be perfect. People don’t come to him because of his cabinets. He was a machinist and gear maker and that is the workmanship that needs to be right, not the storage cabinet he keeps his equipment organized in. I recalled a lot of good conversations with him. I’ll call it a good day despite no contractor in sight.

 

Picked up Moma’s car today, for those that try to keep up with my shenanigans we bought two ‘66 Tbirds last year. This bullet bird popped up last week for the low sum of $1100 Canadian so I think that’s like $37.82 US these days?

this is a very solid car to start with, the other two will donate what parts work and will go down the road.

For a die hard Mopar guy I’m getting a collection of Fords…

 

I'm really done with them now, drilled them for the breathers to work, made gaskets and put a final polish on them, ready to bolt on.

The motor is seized but it looks like the car was just parked one day and that was it. 100% complete, and not a bunch of rust.
Don’t tell anyone but I’m kind of excited about building, plans are a very mild custom, lose a few emblems and some custom paint. She wants a pale pink with lace on the roof! I’m in 100% on this

Getting ready to prime engine with oil pump dummy shaft. I had distributor in to test fit my newly bent fuel lines, so pulled it out. When I pulled little nut off of the coil it rolled right out of my hand into distributor opening! I stood there a second with a “WTF are the odds” look on my face.
Luckily it was sitting on the edge and not in the oil pan. Got it out with a steady hand and magnet. Glad it wasn’t a brass nut!

I guess that's why I always prime them while they're still on the engine stand, with the coil not yet installed

 

Man, that was close! Glad it landed where you could get it!

 

Me too! I won’t be making that mistake again.

Played with the Barracuda a little now on birthday party duty with my six year old.

 

Just letting my lil pea brain grind on multicarb ideas for the roadster project. The Tripower pieces assembly has been moving along nicely but then a dual 4 popped up on eBay too cheap to ignore. And yup they’re both for vortec heads cause….well….you know.

 

I did that with a stainless nut once. A trip to the store for One of those grabby tools saved the day

 

I have an assortment of grabby tools and magnets that get a lot of use, because I drop stuff all the time.

 

Today i upgraded the front brakes on my 56 belair. I went from metric calipers to the larger d52 style.

 

I can relate, it only gets worse as time goes on
